Shoppach for Jones would be bloody outstanding.

And if you had to follow baseball only by Christina Karl's writing, you might come to the conclusion that every team lost 100 games because all the players are so bad and all the decisions each team made were so poor.

Levine mentioned that the Blue Jays and Orioles were having 'aggressive' discussions regarding Izturis. So, while it's not quite "pursuing," at least it's hopeful.

Toronto: "You take him!"

Baltimore: "Heck no. We've been taking Cubs cast-offs for years. It's your turn Canada!"

Toronto: "He wouldn't be able to handle the exchange rate. He's yours!"

Baltimore: GAAAAHHH!! Hendry, you beat us again!"

Not that this wasn't funny, but I am pretty sure I laughed harder than I should've.

Espn1000 reported that Pie will be sent down.

It really does not makes sense to carry 3 catchers.

They won't be for long. Piniella has wanted a 12th pitcher for a while now.

I'm okay with Pie going back down. If he's not going to play everyday with the Cubs -- and that means Lou needs to be patient and allow him to play through slumps -- then he should be in AAA.

There won't be 3 catchers with the team for very long. Koyie Hill will be sent back down, or Bowen will be packaged to another team along with Izturis or Jones. Of course, since that's the right thing to do, the Cubs will bench Soto for a week after he goes 0-4 on Saturday and send him back to AAA.

3 catchers? Who are we the 2005(?) Reds? I remember one year they had Javier Valentin, Jason LaRue, and David Ross on the team.

Well I guess it's better than him not playing, but man I would like to get rid of Pagan, he just doesn't impress me.

Yeah, we definitely need an upgrade in CF. I'm glad that Felix is being sent down...he really needs the AB's everyday and hopefully he can work out some of the kinks in his swing. That being said, I can't see Lou taking 3 catchers. It just does not make any sense, especially seeing how he wants to get to 12 pitchers.

Ah, so this is how they are going to screw up bringing Soto to Chicago.

Pie having a poor two weeks at the plate does not mean he needs his swing revamped. Maybe Lee will get through waivers so he can work out his current struggles in Iowa.

at least a couple of them could hit.

the cubs have three catchers who are all average at best hitters and defenders. soto may be above average defensively, i suppose.

I'm so happy to come home to a "Soto coming up" thread.

I'm not all that mad about Pie being sent down. It's stupid, but if they aren't going to play him they might as well send him down so he can play. As for 3 teams being interested in izturis? hahaha. Silly GM's.

Soto probably gets some time at 1B while Lee serves his suspension.

With DeRosa, Theriot and Ward able to fill in in the OF, Hendry has some time to unload one of the catchers.

I don't see why we're carrying three catchers...especially when two of them don't even belong in the major leagues.

Four maybe?

Isn't Blanco due back very soon?

Could Bowen be heading somewhere? I doubt anybody would trade for Hill, but Bowen could be packaged with somebody - maybe one of the three teams interested in Izzy like Bowen too?

Last I heard there was still some doubt whether Blanco would be back at all. Optimistically, I've heard they're hoping he can be back sooner than later, though.

the cubs have always confused me, but this year they seem to have stepped their game up.

Yeah, they're keeping us on our toes right now. Doesn't really bother me if they can keep us winning though. :)

well at least it keeps things interesting. And at least I care about baseball this July. Last July I was so pissed I couldn't stomach to watch more than a few minutes of those losers.

I was still watching in July but it was painful. Very painful.

I quit watching in Mid-may last year.

It made for a boring, but much less painful, summer.

No matter how bad the Cubs are, I couldn't go that long without some type of sport to watch. The pain of boredom would be far worse than even the deep, grinding pain of Cub suckage.
