well at least it keeps things interesting. And at least I care about baseball this July. Last July I was so pissed I couldn't stomach to watch more than a few minutes of those losers.

I was still watching in July but it was painful. Very painful.

I quit watching in Mid-may last year.

It made for a boring, but much less painful, summer.

No matter how bad the Cubs are, I couldn't go that long without some type of sport to watch. The pain of boredom would be far worse than even the deep, grinding pain of Cub suckage.

I dont know how I made it. But, I did. I just couldnt stomach last years team. I watched on occasion, but it was maybe one or two games every two weeks. Maybe that's why I'm so addicted to this years team...im still in withdrawal from not having a team last year.

We're all starved for a good team my friend. Cub fans will always be extra addicted to a good team - we don't have many of them.

I know. I watched almost every game last year, even as I cursed everything about them and was ashamed to admit I was a fan in public. I feel thats the mark of a true fan, but maybe thats just me being too attached to them

Cubs.com is contradicting earlier reports and stating that Dempster is expected back immediately after the break. Undoubtedly Hill or Bowen would go, taking care of the three catchers issue.
Oh, doctor: Ryan Dempster (strained oblique) is expected be back immediately after the break. Wood, bothered by tendinitis, is slowly rehabbing his right shoulder. There's no timetable for the return of Wade Miller (right shoulder). Angel Guzman (strained right elbow) just started playing catch in mid-June but could begin a rehab assignment in mid-July. Henry Blanco's future is uncertain because of a herniated disk.

I thought Dempster had a setback and was going to take a little longer.
That's what I was referring to when I said that cubs.com was contradicting earlier reports. The setback is the earlier report I meant that was now being contradicted.

Bye bye Koyie Hill.

He did, but I guess it healed quicker than first thought. But he's right that takes care of the 3 catcher situation which is fine by me.

I either highly respect or question the sanity of any fan who follows the Cubs closely. It's far too difficult a task for bandwagoners.

Pie is going down :(

3 catchers

Not necessarily on the three catchers. As was mentioned earlier, it sounds like Dempster is going to be ready tomorrow or so, thus forcing the release or trade of either Bowen or Hill. Thus, Pie going down and two catchers.

When will Hendry get rid of the cancer that is Jones and Izturis? We need a True right fielder..DeRosa gets me nervous out there..How about Abreu?? 3 catchers on the roster now?? Hill or Bowen or both have to go..And im not thrilled with Pagan in CF..I like him and Theriot as bench guys...Theres alot of questions on this team and Jimbo is not a good problem solver..

When another team is willing to take them. Trades have to go both ways and apparently there is some interest - which rules out cutting them.

I'd prefer Griffey Jr or Dunn. The Cubs have been highly rumored to be a likely destination for Junior.

See my and others' earlier posts - it sounds as if Hill or Bowen will be traded or cut and Dempster's coming back.

I do too and hopefully we'll get a better bat in either center or right to amend that. Hendry is looking hard.

...Theres alot of questions on this team and Jimbo is not a good problem solver..

I disagree that there are "a lot" of questions. SS, CF and C are all issues but if we can fill one or two with a good bat - or just improve elsewhere - we should be fine.

On the last SC update on ESPN 1000, Levine mentioned that Wood will most likely begin a rehab stint starting at Mesa early next week.

Sweet! I don't want to get too hyped up about him though - we've been let down by Prior and Wood far too often. That would be a sick pen though.

It's nice to hear that now. I remember in the off-season many people saying how bad Dempster was. Now peeps are looking foward to him coming back. :)

Well by sending pie down now... it starts his 10 day clock now. If jones or pagan are moved then he can come back sooner. Waiting a few days to decide whether to dfa hill or send down bowen probably. but neither would be coming right back up and need to be send down immediately. thats what i get from it. Petrick will be back and dempster probably off dl soon takin that catcher spot.

Because the alternative is Bob Howry.

Uhh, Gooz started his rehab last week in Mesa - threw a scoreless and hitless inning.

Not so fast...

Cubs.com

When the Cubs open the second half of the season on Friday, they'll have three catchers and 11 pitchers on the roster.

Catcher Geovany Soto was called up from Triple-A Iowa...

The moves will leave the Cubs at 11 pitchers over the weekend for their series against the Astros, but they were expected to get to 12 by Monday when the San Francisco Giants come to town. Ryan Dempster could be the extra man.
