game @ ILL but o$u still gets all the calls....whatev

That's Big Ten refs for ya. Illinois just played a horrible game. Their perimeter D was just horrid and offensively they continue to stuggle. I wasn't really impressed with Oden today, but that's also because Pruitt did a pretty decent job against him. I was VERY impressed with OSU's guards, they really get streaky from 3 pt land. The Wisconsin-OSU matchup in Madison on tuesday will be awesome.

Badgers about to take on Minny, should be a good game for the Badgers.

I think at one point OSU's guards were 9-12 3pters.

Sigh. Northwestern outplays Michigan and gets a double digit loss to show for it. They blew way too many chances under the basket, but the missed fastbreak layup by Nash that would have made it a 4 point game with 3 minutes left was the killer. They just blew it down the stretch. But that's what happens when you only shoot 32%.

Aside from the expected offensive rebounds, NU's defense played pretty well. Certainly better than Michigan's (I believe both of Michigan's 2 steals came on unforced loose balls). As did the offense. They had quite a lot of good cuts inside, but just couldn't finish at all. Way too afraid to go up strong.

Ok, so who had Clemson in the pool for last unbeaten team in the nation?

I actually might have guessed it if I'd realized that they were playing girls high school teams for their non-conference schedule.

Illinois doesn't even have one player who would get a scholarship at OSU. I really wish Thad Matta would have been the guys we picked to replace Self.

And this once again is ridiculous. You're trying to say that Illinois's best player would be Ohio St.'s 13th best. There's no need to exaggerate to point out how bad this team has been playing.

Sorry let me rephrase that. Not one of our players would make a dent in their rotation.

Mizzou Meltdown.

Up 16 in the second half, lost by 1. Unreal. What a joke team.

I was at the perfect angle to see Hannah get double teamed in the corner with about 10 seconds left. Me and the 3 other people I was sitting with all saw him say "timeout" before he fell down, with the same angle as the ref in the corner. He was called for traveling and Iowa State made the game winner on a put back after a missed 3. Needless to say we were not pleased.

So Arkansas, who has been very up and down, not only beats #6 Alabama, they run them out of the gym. THey were up 34 points at one point in the game. That's the good news. The bad news is that they have to get over it fast and travel to Florida next Tuesday. If they manage to win *that* game, I will be  and :o for a week.

So ND got clobbered by Gtown 66-48. Just as I'm getting into them full-bore...well...*points to sig*

Ball State loses on a last-second off-balance jumper to Toledo 62-60.

Sports is pissing me off.

Please win that game. The win over 'Bama and VT's win over Duke really helped SIU's RPI today even though we lost. We're still in the top 10 in the country in RPI.

Not a pretty game today against UNI. We were up by 7 at around the midway point in the 2nd half before Lowery decided to put in some of our bench players. Our bench is horrid on offense and it showed as UNI easily came back and tied it up very quickly. Their shooters caught fire and it was game over for us. Not a bad loss by any stretch of the imagination; UNI should make the tournament. But it's frustrating because this team easily could have won all three games that we have lost so far in the season.

SIU takes on Bradley on Wednesday to finally end this damn road trip. After the Bradley game, we would have been on the road for 11 of our first 16 games. Closing out the three game road stretch with a win over Bradley and going 4-1 in conference play would be a big boost heading into a big game against Missouri State next weekend.

well, the "real" season began yesterday for Holy Cross with an 84-74 win over Lafayette. Nice to see some scoring rather than their usual defensive-oriented battle over which team can throw up fewer bricks.

Reports out of Manhatten. KS say K-State's freshman star Bill Walker tore his ACL yesterday.

Terrible news for K-State, the Big XII, and Bill Walker if true. He's a high-flyer who relies on athleticism, and some guys never recover from that.

UC Davis shot 30.2% in losing 57-38 to Utah Valley State. According to the guy from our newspaper who covered the game, went off in the media room after the game and was kicking and throwing things. I wish I could have been there.

Big win, in more ways than one for IU today. 73-51 was the final score, but the key numbers were 20-8, 24-4, and 17-2. Those numbers were IU's advantages in turnovers, points off turnovers, and 2nd chance points.

I've never seen an IU team beat an MSU teams on the board like that. The talent level is definitely down in E. Lansing, but they were still the #24 team. And that's a huge conference win for a team that hasn't been able to win the big one so far.

The Hooisers have really impressed me this year. With their play recently, I feel that have separated themselves from the Big Ten pack and fall just below Wisconsin, OSU. If Wisconsin and OSU trip up somewhere, I wouldn't be surprised to see Indiana make the Big10 REALLY interesting.

Another game, another win for the Vols today. It was an entertaining game, and Mississippi St. has some exciting young players. One more SEC game before a non-conference tilt with OSU. Oden should have his way with us, but guard play keeps us in that one.
