What is it with this coaching staff? I remember when he had no clue how to steal a base here. Now, he's stolen in 13 out of 14 attempts. He's hitting .300, and only has 19 or whatever k's on the year.

I hope they dont do to murton what they did to Patterson. Sadly though, they probably will.

Nah, Corey was a pretty efficient base stealer here 86/109

i hate the change of scenery claim. it gets so overblown b/c when a guy goes to a new place and revives his career it gets all kinds of pub. the thousand other times when a struggling player goes to a new team and continues to suck, you don't hear anything about it.

Huh? Why does anyone want to hear about a player sucking? Why should that be publicized? A player reviving his career, OTH, is actually news.

i was just saying i don't buy the change of scenery argument.

You ever feel like you got a fresh start...got a second chance? Maybe thats how he feels. He doesn't need to worry about the pressure as much anymore.

Heck, its not like he didn't have the tools. It was always a mental thing with Cpatt.

you don't think that a player, specifically one of patterson's breed, can go to a new team with a different coaching staff/approach and do better? that's essentially a change of scenery.

that's a change in coaching staff. that can make a difference. but just saying the guy goes from la to seattle and poof, he's turned it around...i don't really buy that. not saying it doesn't happen, but it's not as frequent as people think.

He also doesn't have to worry about getting booed every time he does something wrong.

My White Sox fan friend called Dusty a miracle worker today.

As long as no one seems to understand that our coaching staff actively tries to lower the team OBP and our manager refuses to bat high-OBP guys at the top of the order other than NSBB posters, no changes will be made. :(

When all is said and done Hendry's last offseason could be one of the Cubs' alltime worst, the type of offseason that people still talk about 10 or 15 years later. Still too early to make that call, but preliminary indications are pretty bad for Jim.

Me and my friends were high-fiving about our off-season earlier in the year.

We were so innocent then...

Patterson just got hit by a pitch for those keeping tabs.

Does that count for OBP?

Yep.

two walks for patterson tonight, giving him 8 for the season (in 115 or so PA). pierre also has 8 walks (in 187 or so PA). amazing. he also had two more steals.

so much for accountability.

.602 ops. that's ok corey. you get the starting job.

baseball players aren't robots. sometimes a change of scenery can be beneficial. corey got 170 ab's in the bottom of the order last year, and sucked there too.

thanx for sucking as a cub, bud.
