I “expect” they will fall short of the World Series champs. After that, IMO, it would be foolish to predict anything else. They can win any series they are in. The reason I expect they won’t win the World Series is because that is such a high expectation when you factor in having to win 4 series where each is probably a 50/50 coin toss. To me it is like asking someone to tell you when they expect you to not to toss heads when tossing a coin 4 times. I couldn’t tell you when you won’t toss heads but I would say if having to do so 4 times in a row, you probably won’t do it.

Cubs get past the Brewers, Dodgers get bounced in the DS, Cubs fans get irrationally confident, Cubs get pantsed by the Braves or Phillies.

I think this season ends at 11:59pm on Wednesday night.

What I hope is that they take care of San Diego, then go and sweep Milwaukee.  The Doyers go down 4-2, then a crosstown WS and revenge for 1906. Cubs over White Sox in 7 games. Cubs hold a 9-1 lead in the top of the 9th, but the bullpen almost blows it. PCA makes a series saving catch to seal the 9-8 triumph.

For the record, I went with eliminated in the NLCS.

They should be able to handle business with the Padres, but the matchup with the Brewers in the NLDS will be reminiscent of the Cubs/Brewers NLDS last year, or Cubs/Nationals NLDS in 2017, where both teams slugged it out over a 5 game series, went to the well on multiple occasions, and emptied everything in the tank in Game 5, only for the winner to go into the NLCS completely gassed and easy pickings for the Dodgers in the NLCS.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar outcome to 2017 here.

I will be happy to be wrong, but I just don't have a great feeling about this series.  On the bright side, the Cubs don't give a horsefeathers about what feeling I have.
