There’s also no organizational depth and he has a limited budget.

Ive already checked out. I'm onto the bears and 2027. Hopefully, Ricketts has the balls to clean house by firing from Jed to CC. He wont but im done with the season.

Go Dodgers.

Yeah, this offseason is going to test the limits of how petty I can be.

Cubs might go 2-5 against Milwaukee but if they can score a couple runs they will win the RD battle over those 7 games

This is the only game where they didn't blow a lead. Could have gone 6-1.

I can guarantee you one thing. No matter how much money the Cubs have, Jed won't be shopping at the top of the market.  We're going to get multiple #4ish type starters and a handful of seemingly mediocre relievers who actually turn out to be bad. $100M well spent.

Can't throw money at mediocre FA and expect to fix this. We need to get better at developing pitching. The Brewers are doing this with half the payroll. If you want to flex your money pay their whole pitching infrastructure more to come to Chicago.

Yeah, but actually, it's their 19 year old intern who nobody knows about who is responsible for all their pitching success.

With 15 games left in 2023 the Cubs were 2 games ahead in the loss column over the DBacks and Reds for WC3.  I believe they were losing the tiebreaker to both teams

With 15 games left in 2026 the Cubs might end the night 2 games ahead in the loss column over the DBacks and Padres for WC 2/3. They will own the tiebreaker over both teams

Still in a better position (and yes the DBacks are currently trailing the Royals 2-1) but it’s getting frighteningly similar

Our pitch lab is just AI videos of Rick Sutcliff giving words of encouragement to the pitching staff.

Palencia is throwing a lot of sinkers, that's new

Still looks like ass.  That's not new.

Insane that even in a relatively low pressure environment he still can’t prevent giving up a run

That's because of the Pedro's error, though.  I'm not saying he's good again, but I can't blame him on that one.

sure this is the 6th season in row getting dunked on by a team with half their payroll, but at least the cubs also have one of the worst farm systems in baseball.

get that front office some more contract extensions baby.

TIL: Joe West was still a horsefeathers umpire when there was no batter in the batters box and the pitch landed in the dirt. Dumb arse still called a strike.
