I have no idea if this is true but I saw multiple people on Twitter alluding to Haliburton having had an invitation to throw the first pitch in Milwaukee (he's from Wisconsin I think) rescinded after the Pacers beat the Bucks in the playoffs. If there's any truth to that, yeah, I'd be talking my horsefeathers too, because that's dumb as hell.

Bummer they couldn't take three of four, but the split is fine. The division wasn't happening at this point but they battled hard, there looks like a few more reinforcements working their way back in Steele, Cabrera and Swanson, and the team knocked around the best pitcher on the planet.

Long way to go to grab WC1 back and there's some easier teams on the schedule coming up. Worse outcomes than this and it shows they're good enough to hang with the Brewers if they see them in a playoff set again.

Pinch me.  A well pitched game.

Exactly, I was wondering if I'd ever see 9 innings of well pitched ball by my Cubs all year.  We've had several good starters efforts the last 3 weeks but little or no bullpen success.  Got both today against the "unbeatable" Brewers.   Finally!!  The guys we have are just going to have to pitch better, it's as simple as that, can't count on Steel or Shelby Miller or Cabrera saving this bullpen.

Really don't like Shota going tonight, Craig should have a quick hook, I'd pull him at the first hint of trouble.  It's only a matter time before he gives up multiple 2 and 3 run bombs.  It's got to suck as a manager to know your starter is so volatile and you can't trust him at all.

Yeah, I thought after that last outing that we could not afford to hope he fixes things....these games are too important.  I like Shota - I hope he does get it figured out, but if I was managing I would not have the sack to start him.

A scenario very similar to last season appears to be playing out with Shota.  Starts out okay, has a stretch of looking pretty good, is effective, then, dissolves to un-pitchable.  Well, un-pitchable in any game where winning is paramount.

I agree. And I think one reason Civale wasn’t used in the Brewers series was a sign Craig will have a quick hook for Shota, if needed.
