Definitely agree, Palencia, Zeferjahns, Cabrera they have the stuff to be dominate, one or more of them gets hot look out.  It's not like we're hope/wishing on Shota to be effective, doesn't have the stuff, never will.

As for the Brewers all their regular season success against replacement level pitching won't translate to squat in the playoffs.  They're not going to be able to cobble together enough GB singles, misplayed GB's and FB's against quality pitching.

Folks can fan how they want to fan, but gentle reminder that The Athletic has the Cubs in their Power Rankings usually in the top 6 in all of MLB.  Sure, it may be hard to hear after the last couple of games, but invite folks to touch grass and take in the fact that the season isn't over until it's actually over.  kthxbi

Exactly. Yes, they have flaws. But so does every team. You can find an excuse for any fan base once their team is eliminated. Brewers don’t hit homers, Phillies and a terrible defense, questionable pen, Dodger, getting old and pitchers hurt, etc….. 

All anyone is doing now is readying themselves for the eventual Cubs series loss to tell us all how they knew they couldn’t win because…..

Fact is 29 fan bases will be right. It is easy to predict a team won’t win a World Series.

Listen, we can go hunting for villains or whatever but ultimately the injury bug hit the Cubs pitching staff super hard this year and sometimes you can only just deal with it. How many starters did we lose significant time to this year? Cade blew up immediately. Justin Steele hasn't pitched in 18 months. Edward Cabrera got hurt and sucked. Jameson Taillon's decline immediately became a crater. horsefeathers happens man. You can only predict and prepare for so much. 

It would be a shame if PCA's historic season didn't amount to at least a playoff appearance. Don't 2005 Derrek Lee the guy, at least.

The expanded playoffs waters the feat down a bit, but the cubs made the playoffs 5 times in the first ~3 decades of my life. I can’t envision a time where I will ever take postseason baseball for granted. Yes, this pitching staff is straight ass. But this lineup  has been otherworldly for the majority of the season. I really don’t anticipate much more than last October, but ya never know.

Man, I really want Seiya back. I understand there’s a line to be drawn if the offers get out of hand and he’s going to command a contract into his late thirties, but the PCA-Seiya-Bregman 1-2-3 has been incredibly special.

I personally don't see how he will have much of a career. This will keep popping up.

According to Counsell, Brown's neck thing is a bone issue and the only treatment is rest and recovery

Why will Jed likely only give one of them a QO? Obviously that one is Seiya. But why not Happ? What are you basing this on? There are worse things than him accepting a one year deal. And if he doesn’t they get an extra draft pick. Ideal would be neither accept, the Cubs sign Seiya and get a draft pick for Happ.
