I don’t want Jed to ever do something idiotic like trading a horsefeathers tonne of horsefeathers for an ace like Skubel before he fixes the bullpen. He would be wasted in this pitching staff.

very excited for this to be justin steele's job in a month

Not that I'm expecting them to, but if things go well, they could have a bullpen of death by mid-September.  Brown, Harvey, Steele, and Palencia to go with whoever they add and probably Assad and Rea to provide some length along with Webb and Rolison.  That's a bunch Craig can cook with in the playoffs.

There’s just a really low chance of holding a one run lead with these bullpen arms.  Bases loaded, Happ up.  That’s where the game needs to be won.  Forget lock down pitching, it’s not there.

Which is where I take a stand on the offensive side of things. If we can't win a 2-1/3-2 game, then it's probably best for the Cubs to acquire a little bit more offense, which Hunter Goodman (my opinion) comes into play.

Unless the Cubs get Skubal, I don't think there's a pitcher they acquire by Monday that solidifies the pitching issues. We're still going to be a bad pitching team this time next week. Now, pitching hasn't been the problem the last two days, but still.

We beat the Pirates 3-2 a whole 6 days ago.

Detmers or Skubal/Boyd/Shota/Cabrera or other guy is a fine playoff rotation. Palencia, Webb, Brown, Steele, Rolison, Kittredge-esque acquisition, and the three best of Assad, Rea, Milner, Maton, Hollowell, Harvey, Peterson is an average bullpen.

Being tied 2-2 with a .500 team up 2-1 in the series on the road while outscoring them 21-10 in aggregate is not some 'maybe we just aren't good enough' moment.
