I know they are short handed but I don’t understand the plan here . Rollison againts Chourio / Contreras in the 1st doesn’t seem like a great idea , and then Wicks who is atrocious .

They have a chance to take a series on the road againts the Brewers and they decide to throw Wicks . I  rather pitch Velazquez tbh

I suspect it's actually Rolison to Wilson, and then whether they go to Wicks or the short relievers from there depends on the score

Just happy they took one, TBH. I would rather lose and not use many pen arms then lose a close game depleting the pen. I don’t see a win here.

It's crazy how shorthanded this team is right now in the rotation where they have to basically white flag an important division game due to lack of available arms.  Wicks is awful

If there's a positive? Brandon Woodruff isn't *that* good anymore. He's fine, his xFIP is in the low 4s but the velo is down below 93mph, his K% is down from "great" to "a little better than average". He throws a lot of fastballs and gives up a lot of fly balls. On top of that, his HR/FB% feels suspiciously low. He is much more of a "pretty good" pitcher than an elite one.

That isn't to say the Cubs will explode for five in the first, but that Woodruff isn't an impossible pitcher to get to, I think he's got some regression coming his way, and the Cubs' strong suit is clearly their offense.

It is ridiculous that they have to start probably their 11th starting pitcher option for this game. Injuries and then having the Monday game moved to a DH on Wednesday really messed the rotation up.

I hope the Cubs don't plan to use Wicks for more than 6 to 7 outs.  I'd rather watch literally anyone pitch than him haha.

PCA has not looked great the last few games.  Hopefully just a small bump for him.

What PCA has been doing can never be discounted but if he’s our best (getting the most PAs) hitter we’re in trouble.

I'm gonna need Pat and Boog to stop syncing up their days off. Having to choose between Cohen and Zaidman is cruel.

I've been stuck with the Brewers booth all three games
