do you really think Happ being streaky is something unique about him?

I dont know what it is with him this season,  not even sure its steaky anymore.

he'll get his hits and walks here and there, had an awesome on base streak going earlier this season,  power is good with 16 HRs.

But, theres still something off with him this season, the obvious clutch hitting with RISP is terrible, strikeouts are way up, feels like the only time he drives in a run is with a homerun.

I dont know, I think instead of being streaky this season,  hes more of hitting in pockets (so to speak), and that is mostly when he hits his homers and multi hit games.

Other then those pockets here and there,  hes been pretty quiet offensively overall with his hitting. Like now, hes 6 for last 16, but theyre quiet hits, 1 DB 5 singles,  zero RBI. Hits are hits, but for a middle of order guy, you'd like a little noise with these hits..lol

Yes you need the guys in front of him on base and hes had those opportunities,  but when he does get a hit, theyre quiet ones..lol

second time this week counsell has a made a very obvious at the time bad bullpen decision. thought managing the pen was, like, his thing.

Without the advantage of hindsight, what obvious mistakes did Counsell make with the pen this week? Rolison came in and did his job. Blue Jays had some right handed bats coming up in the 7th. So he put a guy in who has been very good prior to this game, and rough on righties. Era under 2. Then when lefties came up he brought in Theilbar. I mean that is the pen he was given. Even bringing Webb in, he has been his best. Easy to say he should have done something different after the fact.
Keep in mind, my streaming was lost in that 8th inning implosion. So I didn’t see the entire inning. Just bits and pieces. So while I am somewhat skeptical of your comment about obvious bad moves, I have to say I don’t know the 8th inning sequence. I got my streaming back just as Webb gave up the 3 run homer.

I know Cam Sisneros doesn't have the highest ceiling but why are we trading assets for another DFAd reliever? Jed is literally stockpiling everyone's AAA castoffs.

The Astros are trading right-hander Jayden Murray to the Cubs, reports Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston. Double-A first baseman Cameron Sisneros goes to Houston in return.

taking shota out for garbage ass maton was so egregiously stupid counsell basically apologized for it after the game.

as embarrassing as it is, rolison might be the cubs best reliever right now. he threw one pitch in the 6th and the cubs had 9 outs left to get with Roberts/thielbar/webb (all of whom have sucked lately) and Thornton/Milner, neither of whom have been great lately and whose success has been based on some smoke and mirrors. handedness be damned, I’m trying to squeeze more than one pitch out of maybe the best reliever they have when the rest of the pen is varying degrees of garbage/shakiness.

I disagree. I don’t think any of those moves were egregious bad. Sure, Maton might have been a stretch, but the fact is he has to be good or the Cubs are screwed anyway. As for Rolison pitching the 7th, I understand your concern. But had Rolison stayed in and pitched and given up runs Counsell would have been blasted for letting him pitch the 7th. Thornton has been pretty good. And is right handed. I am not saying you are wrong to suggest Rokison staying in. I am saying whatever he did, if it didn’t work people would suggest he did something  else. I do appreciate your explanation and it has merit. But I think it is one of those things that it doesn’t work it is criticized. At least you have r spanning behind your comment.

I'm watching Mets (Peralta) vs Phillies (Sanchez).  I didn't know Peralta hasn't been good this year.  He couldn't even finish 3 innings (10 ER, 2 runs after he left), and his ERA is now 4.83.

His velo is down I believe. Sucks for him going into FA.

Ian Happ is tied for 5th in fWAR among all LF’ers this season.

Friendly reminder: there are 30 teams in MLB

Your comment about the 30 teams is so true - I am quick to go doom and gloom for sure (especially after today’s 8 runs given up in 1.1 innings by our pen).
The expectations that surrounded this team this offseason had my hopes up really high (I’m sure I’m not alone), so it is not uncommon for fans to be highly critical of their team. Not saying it’s right, but that’s the nature of fandom at times. However, your post is a solid reminder to keep things in perspective.
I see a lot of different type of fans on here who I believe love their team. Many of them know baseball really well, and I enjoy reading the commentary from both sides. Some people use it at times as a “vent session” - sorry for the lengthy post .i do appreciate your post & reminder

I just wish some dans would take a beat before posting nonsensical stuff. But I get the passion.

I totally agree and understand - many of times, I have “missed that beat” haha 😂

I do appreciate this site (those that created and upkeep it), as well as all the members who post on it. It’s nice to have a place to talk baseball, about your team, and at times - to vent your frustration. 🤟🏼

I would assume every one of us loves our team.  I don't pretend like I know baseball really well, but I have my own opinions, just like everyone here.  Sometimes, we agree and disagree.  That's just how it goes.  And, that's all good, if you ask me.
