starting to think PCA clears them.  All this at age 24 is nuts.  It’s really just him or KB and given PCA’s defense i’m taking him…

Rizzo was no slouch as a Cub..

His D at first was outstanding and his bat was really good with the Cubs.

272/372/489/861

1311 hits, 242 HRs

All with the Cubs

Seiya and Happ are a combined 12-51 at getting a runner home from 3rd with less than 2 outs

For me, they can both take a walk, their better years are behind them.

both gonna be 32 next season

that was such an iconic era.  They deserved more than 1 chip.

second time this week counsell has a made a very obvious at the time bad bullpen decision. thought managing the pen was, like, his thing.

you're gonna be begging for Ian Happ after watching Kevin Alcantara

When Hartshorn debuts at 20 and becomes the best of the bunch nobody will be sad.

I kind of feel the Alcantara ship has sailed.

I don’t think it has sailed as he has had nearly no real MLB at bats. I think he is opening day on the roster next year unless they find a taker for him this trade deadline who values him.

Probably one of the worst losses of the season. You can’t blow a 5 run lead in the 7th ugh

and it still counts the same as every other loss that no one will remember in 2 weeks

Ehhh

I'd be surprise if it even Alcantara, especially if Shaw ends up an everyday guy in OF.

Happ is what he is now, a guy, he can give you a banger of a series or two, and then  disappear or give you little for a couple weeks.

Sure, he may get his 750+ OPS and 20-25 HRs, this and next season,  but theres just way too many disappointing games in between the bangers now..  🤷

The Cubs made Varland's fWAR jump from 1.8 to 2.0.  Now, he has the highest fWAR among relievers.

do you really think Happ being streaky is something unique about him?

Losing this game being up 5-0 after 7 is like the Bears being up 20-0 with 5 minutes left and end up losing 21-20  🙄🙄🙄

I don’t know man, I remember every bit of that 10 game losing streak.  Then again I tend to ruminate a lot.

Today is just indicative of why we are 3 over .500 and not 15 over.  It’s not really a complete team.  Too many moves didn’t work.  Too many injuries.  We get the offense humming a little then blow a good lead late.  This is who they are.

bullpen has been pretty good overall but now we're firmly entering the worse bullpen in the league narrative part of the season

No - it was quite apparent that they were straight horsefeathers TODAY though. It’s okay to state the obvious.
They have been doing a decent job as of late. Just today = disaster, so people will call it that way. They could pitch tomorrow and save the day - 🤷‍♂️
