Wild because Jed told us leadership was one of the big reasons they wanted Bregman so bad.

I could be wrong,  im sure he is/was with the Astros and maybe was with a pretty young team in Boston last year, but who knows maybe it takes a little longer to actually be that type of guy coming to a veteran team like the cubs with guys that been there a few years already. 🤷

It’s hard to be a leader when you suck. Hard to call out others when you are the one that needs to be called out.

wtf lol - left work later today and I flipped to espn to check the score

Thanks for the win last night fellas - gonna be a long ass summer I guess. This team will be lucky to hit 75-80 wins this year. Major disappointment thus far

well yeah obv last night means nothing after today. but if they had just lost 6-3 or whatever last night and then followed that up with a 16-1 loss today for what would have been their TENTH straight home loss, that kinda feels like an exclamation point moment where SOMETHING has to be done.

Even if they loss last night,  and with today's blowout , something tells me it would be buisness as usual there.

Hoyer/Counsell wont fire coaches because if things dont change, then the next domino to fall would be them at the end of season.

At least we sign players like Bregman because attitude means more than anything else to Jed.

That was supposed to be sugar on top. For whatever reason Bregman is having the worst year by far of his career. And it doesn’t help that Counsell continues to hit him in the top of the order.

My preferred trade candidate? Swanson, Seiya, Maybe a contender would be interested if we ate half the remaining contract.

might get something interesting for Busch.

Swanson + Taillon for Skubal + Greene and we'll toss in $1 million because we're generous.

Yep.

All I heard this offseason was how Bregman was this elite tone setter and culture builder. Well anytime now that he wants to display his locker room wizardry would be nice because this team is dead as horsefeathers and has been for weeks.

He has zero command of anything. Killer stuff  means nothing if you just throw it up there and pray

His command in the zone was awful today.  Let's hope it's mostly rust.

This rotation straight up needs some good fortune the rest of this year or we're screwed.

Continuing that thought, maybe DFA of Taillon or Shota is an option since they're both in the final year of their contracts and likely don't offer any relief value.

What's Tallion's trade value on baseballtradevalues.com/  ?

No doubt theyre all frustrated and pissesd off, obviously I dont know these guys personally,  but this group doesn't have a feel of having someone in that clubhouse who would stand up and be voiceous and ballsy enough to be that type of leader and start calling people out.

Counsell seems like a guy who would do it quietly behind closed doors with individuals

I don't think the issue is effort with these guys.  They seem like diligent workers and pros.

If you can't hit a curveball or you're throwing 91mph over the heart of the plate what's to be done?  If you suck you suck.

I wonder what the homerun difference has been recently? (Cubs home runs v opponents home runs). It feels like it’s been really really trending the wrong way.

Its crazy how hard the Cubs pitchers just get absolutely crushed. Feels like nobody else in baseball is giving up this kind of contact this frequently. 4-5 times a game somebody goes prime Barry Bonds on this team.

The home runs allowed alone are pathetic enough
