Much better sequencing the last 2 games with 15 runs on only 26 baserunners compared to Saturday and Sunday with only 4 runs on 23 baserunners.

Reds are 19-10 with only a +6 run differential and the war of a 13-16 team.

Is Rolison a dude?

Probably not.  At least not a dude you'll ever trust in a high leverage spot against a RHB.  That said if someone is not a dude I appreciate them coming in and just relentlessly filling the zone

Steady Eddie Cabrera has been a rock

5.1, 0 ER

5.0, 3 ER

6.0, 3 ER

7.0, 3 ER

5.2, 3 ER

Dude keeps you in every ballgame and eats up innings

You are right, based on the game in 2026. But it is kind of funny to think a guy who has only gone 6 or more innings twice in his 5 starts with 2 games being quality starts is considered a rock and a guy who eats up innings. 12 earned runs in 29 innings is, IMO, not Cabrera at his best. I am hoping for more, and believe there is more there.

In a season where everyone is hurt and guys like Shota and Taillon are coin flips if you’re getting good or bad, I’ll take steady all day

Like I originally said, in today’s game, you are right. He has been steady.

I also just realized, you missed a start he had in March. Would have made your argument even better. 6 innings and no runs. So now we are talking about 35 innings and 12 runs. Which, is very good. I honestly thought he was doing better. I was kind of surprised with the stats you showed. Based on revised stats, I agree with you he has also been a rock. And that said, IMO, there is more there with him that the Cubs will bring out.

Nice call, @Jason Ross on calling PCA's HR during the podcast earlier in the day.  (Won't dock you points as you predicted it'd be off Buehler).  I was super pleased when PCA drew a lefty on lefty walk in his previous AB, and seeing him deliver in such a high leverage spot confirms that he's trending in the right direction.

Oh I'll dock myself there! He struck out twice against Walker. But hey, he bailed me out against a LHP, so hey, we all get a little lucky.

Mostly feel like we're seeing the start of the PCA bananas streak. He did this before. He begins to get more selective. Then he starts getting hits, Then he gets a home run or two. Then they come in bunches. Then he goes super-aggressive and eventually begins getting himself out. The backslide is always annoying but that Super Saiyan time is fun. And with the Cubs pitching injuries, a bananas streak would be good right now

This is not to go as far as to call them all pushovers, but the Cubs don't face another SP who is definitely good until next Sunday when they draw deGrom.  Everyone before then is either outright mediocre to bad or a guy with a good resume having a bad start to 2026.

This was the Soriano lifecycle to a T, and I agree I definitely expect Pete's ebbs and flows to look like this

Man it would be awesome if Pete found his power again. Over the last 2 weeks his OBP is 390. His approach is improving. He just needs to start barreling balls again.

This aged ..... well.

Honestly, I’m not sure he is any better than Rea. But if they did sign him, Rea could have gone to the pen. Which helps the pen.

Again, I know what you mean but Rea's numbers are superior as a starter.

PCA, with his 84 wRC+ and 0 bsr, is still on pace for about 5 fwar. Freak.

Oneil Cruz with an .861 OPS, 9 home runs, 10 stolen bases. PCA has been worth more in fWAR.

I was trying to remember how to sort them by greatest individual seasons but couldnt do it. It feels like hes on pace for the greatest defensive season for a CF in this century, possible ever.

Kiermaier's best season was 20.6. PCA has tripled his next closest competitor.
