2nd and 3rd with no outs and this is the result? Pathetic

Swanson almost certainly would have been out but when he didn’t try to score on Shaw’s fly ball I had a bad feeling.

I’m still not too worried, just a crappy stretch to start the year but they’re starting to dig an annoying hole for themselves and the schedule is getting tougher.

Do they get an extra one in each extra inning?

Yes.

“If a team enters extra innings without a challenge, they'll be given an extra one every inning. The challenges will not accumulate if not used. Teams will never have more than one challenge per extra inning unless they entered extra frames with their original two intact.”

I don’t know if “worried” is the word but there has not been really anything good to say about the first 14 games. injuries, literally nobody hitting well except for Nico, bullpen has been garbage. guess the remaining healthy starters have been fine, but I feel like they’re lucky to even by 6-8 with how poorly they’ve played. if they play like this against the tough part of the schedule coming up, they are going to dig themselves a big hole.

To me hitting seems very cyclical and they’re bound to start hitting soon regardless of the caliber of pitching. We’ll see. I agree the vibes haven’t been great but that’s why Jed wanted all these good clubhouse guys on the roster to keep things together during bad stretches.  I just think it’s too early to be more than slightly concerned at this point.

It’s too early but I must admit to having a little unwelcome Déjà vu from later last year.

Has the bullpen been garbage? In this particular series they have worked 9 innings, including two with a runner starting in second. They gave up 2 earned runs(a homer against Theilbar). It is just so easy to rip the pen whenever they give up a run. I am not saying the pen is great, by any means. But it isn’t garbage. It just seems one guy messes up and gives up a run or two and the “bullpen sucks” familiar refrain starts up again.

It's frustrating to lose another home series before the middle of April. With that said, just win tomorrow and not get swept.

I agree. It is very frustrating. Which is why I do understand venting. I try not commenting much during games because I realize most comments during a game are hot takes in the moment. I am very disappointed in their start. But I still believe they are a good team. And at some point the team will start playing well.

Theilbar was brilliant today except for the throwing error. Milner was great, too. Ben Brown lucked out a bit

It is why I am considering April as an extension of March and not really get concern till May 1.

The hitting was not cyclical last year from June on, they were a bad offence for 3 months and have been awful to open the season with largely the same players.

That the concerning part for me...

Outside of Bregman and Ballesteros,  these are the same guys we watched struggle for the most part in August and September last year, and the bulk of them are crappn the bed so far these first 14 games.

The thing that aggravates me the most is that it not just a couple guys it 2/3 of the lineup slumping at the same time.

I guess if there could be a good thing,  it that when they snap out of it, we may see some exciting offense for a good stretch if they all break out at the same time.

Just need to hope the pitching stays leveled when they do

at least the brewers lost again

That the crazy part and we see it alot every season in all the divisions, teams thatvare favored sometimes get off to a slow start while teams that are supposed to be at the bottom start out hot.

Eventually it all levels out, but April is funny that way.  I just hope the Cubs aren't missing the opportunity to take advantage of the Brewers early on to build up a lead on them

I was watching the game from the 9th inning to see them lose.  They scared me a little.😁
