Baseball is funny. Between a game where you score 5 times and a game where you score just 1 run, you'd assume the win came with the 5 runs.

Kelly has a career 90 wRC+ and he’s at 88 since last May.

Might be time to just start Amaya 4 of 5 games through rotation.

Bad loss.

Up 3-0 in the 7th and you piss down your leg.

Looks like milwaukee is still doing milwaukee things. Kind of feeling like last year again early on. Sigh.

Yea the Kelly last year was a complete fluke, just like the version of PCA we saw.

Gonna be some real rough regressions this year.

I am not enjoying baseball this season at all. Going to the game Wednesday and im like meh.

I don’t know if it’s Michigan basketball keeping me occupied but I’ve largely been uninvested so far. But it has nothing to do with their play, 9 games is not a lot of season.

Best remain a little uninvested for awhile.

“jacob webb has reverse splits” does not equal “jacob webb is good.”

Jacob Webb has a career 2.95 ERA. Over his career, LHH are hitting .194 with a .258 wOBA against. He has faced 434 left handed hitters in his career. Only five left handed hitters had ever taken him deep before today. Kayfus was just the sixth.

You know, two things can happen at the same time: 1. Jacob Webb is legitimately good against LHH. 2. Today, he wasn't his best.

If you want to find fault in the BP usage: the Cubs should have used Maton or Harvey when the game was 5-4 and not Roberts. That's the correct gripe. Not "the guy who has strong track record against LHH just didn't have it".

he’s a 32 year old journeyman middle reliever that sucked all spring and has sucked so far this year. he’s fine as the team’s 6th best reliever or whatever, but come on with acting like he’s really good or something.

there’s a reason he signed a 1/$1.5 mil contract.

Willing to say “horsefeathers happens thats ball” on Webb today, but we knew and have known that Roberts and Brown are bad players, there has to be a better option than that, especially in a game where the bats actually show life and Shota pitches well.

It does feel a little weird this season as far as my interest goes, and it started with Spring Training.  I figured maybe it was because they didn't show many games on tv and a couple of their main players weren't there cause of WBC, but I just dont have that excitement yet for this team so far.

Brewers on pace to go 126-36

😒

That's not gonna happen, but unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised, if they win 90+ again.

Amaya since July of 24 has been the superior hitter (829 OPS, 129 wRC+) and should be in the every day lineup vs right handed starters. Kelly’s Frank Schwindel April was an  aberration that should be handled accordingly. We have 10 seasons of date to draw from.

At least the Cardinals dominated the division with a core of Pujols/Edmonds/Rollen/Holliday/Carpenter/Wainwright/Molina etc Brewers are a horsefeathers nuisance.

Brewers swept the Whitesox and took 2 of 3 from Rays and Royals,  so they haven't exactly beaten the AL best so far.

Cubs bats are still in ST mode and the bottom end bullpen arms are exactly what we expected, trash to start the season.

Hopefully the bats can figure it out, take some pressure off the bullpen and score a bunch of runs this week, otherwise the rest of this month could be brutal facing Phillies Mets Dodgers and Padres 🤦

what I'm trying to say is why is Webb coming into the game with a one-run lead in the 8th when there are two relievers better than him who are available.

I think one was going to pitch the 9th. My guess is Palencia wasn’t someone Craig wanted to use. Then with Webb having solid splits against left handed batters, I am sure CC liked him more than Harvey. Which is fine. The Decision not to go with Harvey once Webb didn’t have it, is what bothers me. But maybe one of Harvey or Maton weren’t feeling well. Only reason not to bring one of them in at that point.
