I'd plan to have Brown take one of these games to the finish line, and assume the other game you use the pen like normal

Also another pitcher is going to come up and join Martin for the DH.  Curious who.

This is almost certainly a dumb question but these are 9 inning games right? The 7.5 over under for the night game feels real low with shota on the mound

Looks like it's a pretty chilly day with high's as low as 41 and a bunch of wind. Probably not going to be an easy day to hit all around.

Which only means more angst with the fan base because the Cubs aren’t hitting. This is going to be a fun year….🤮

Riley Martin has been called up for Hortons IL spot.

Ethan Robert’s is up today as the extra double header guy or whatever we call it

Ethan Roberts has his pre-Tommy John velocity back, I think he's going to resume being a DUDE this year.

I too am intrigued. Not sure why he didn’t just get the Horton roster spot. In a very very very small sample, Roberts seems to be pitching the best out of everyone in Iowa

I probably would have gone Roberts too, but I'm guessing it's Martin because A) they want someone besides Brown who can give them length and B) the next xouple teams on the schedule have lineups vulnerable to LHP.

Be nice to get a sweep today and carry the momentum into the next series.

Going on a 7-3, 8-2 run could be just what they need to get rolling

Was looking at weather for this week and noticed starting Thursday 8 of 10 days has rain, cubs will be home for 6 of those days.

Odd that Mo isn't starting game 1. Lefty slated for game 2.

I kind of wonder if they're doing the "give this guy some run to make absolutely  sure he's cooked" thing with Conforto knowing Seiya's no more than a few days out and they'll need to cut someone.

I just assumed Kingery. But I guess it could be Conforto.

Schedule makers refuse to put northern teams in southern stadiums early in the season.

The schedule makers really stacked their early April schedule in ****** weather cities compared to the last 3 seasons.

While they should try a little better to play early season games in southern cities, or domes, it is still hard to eliminate games in northern cities early in the year. Cold weather is in northern cities all thru April. Teams aren’t going to start with 30 games in the road. And, besides that, in this particular case the issue is rain the next 10 days. It rains in the south too.

Cubs were spoiled last year playing their first 12 away games in Phoenix, So Cal and Sacramento

True, but during that stretch the Cubs also played at Wrigley April 4th thru the 9th

No one is suggesting 30 road games, but maybe road games not ALSO in the north? I’d take 12 at Wrigley and 15 in San Diego, LA, Arizona, Miami and Atlanta.

5 of the 6 home runs this season have been by Happ and Bregman so far.  It would be nice to see someone else step up today, like PCA and Busch.

5 of today's 9 starters are slugging .308 or less. Swanson and Shaw still don't have an extra base hit and PCA has 1.  That's frankly awful.
