Hopefully once Suzuki is back he wont get too many opportunities out there..lol

It’s the hope that Suzuki and Shaw cancel each other out and turn into Ichiro Suzuki.

Crazy. Jed believes he has the guys to defy age curves.

4 of the 6 years of the extension is from age 29-32 so it's really not that bad at all.   Better ages than the Swanson and Bregman deals.

Oneil Cruz had a memorable opening day

But my favourite play was when he tried to kill someone in the Mets dugout

Do they trade Rojas or is he Swanson’s contingency plan? Do they trade Shaw or audition him in the outfield and slide Nico over to SS and put him at second base when Swanson walks?

Folks need to pump the brakes on Rojas.  There's a lot of reason for optimism, but Jason's writeup makes it clear there's a reasonable chance he doesn't end up at SS due to average to decent defensive skills and that Rojas' bat has a ways to go.  There are valid reasons why some people do not consider him a Top 100 prospect, since his current best trait is "young for his level" instead of "hits the absolute piss out of the ball" or "current Gold Glove caliber defense".

Granted, the advantage of the Cubs' situation with Rojas is they can wait and see what happens with him, even if he won't be MLB-ready until 2028/2029.

I’m not optimistic or pessimistic. I don’t know horsefeathers. That’s why I come here to ask questions. All I see is a an infielder who sits in the 60 of most prospect rankings and that’s the extent of my knowledge. I prefer this over reading twitter posts projecting a 2030 cubs lineup of long, ballesteros, Shaw, Rojas, Alcantara, PCA Busch and some random second baseman.

I'm kind of sick of that particular quirk of Wrigley to be honest.  Can we just play normal baseball?

I think between Shaw and the three prospect infielders (Rojas/Triantos/Ramirez) you should definitely plan to keep one and can maybe accomadate two if you make one of them something approaching a full time outfielder.

There's pros and cons for each guy;

- Shaw and Rojas are the most likely to have enough bat to still be a quality player in the outfield

- As a switch hitter Ramirez is probably the best compliment to the current infield

- Triantos as a speed/defense/contact guy is probably the one who is best suited to being a career bench guy

Thankfully there's time and no rush to get anything done, not like there was this winter with Caissie.  If the team does want to do anything major at the deadline though I feel like this better be the stash Jed deals from.

I would be less sick of it if it didn't feel like our home runs were being knocked down a hell of a lot more often than opponents home runs.

I'm sure hard data would prove me wrong, and I know at least one Nationals homer was also knocked down Thursday, but that's the meatball in me.
