I hate how much is riding on this game. Can’t we have a low stress, not a game that flips our chances of the playoffs like 30% one way or the other on a win or loss?

just fast forward to the Browns game please

On the other hand, meaningful games in December is a nice change of pace from most of the last 15 years.

Meaningful, yes, not “if you win you stay at the #1 seed, if you lose you drop to the #7 or out of the playoffs completely” level, woof!

I know odds factor in individual game odds as well, but hard to believe it's that big of a difference for the Bears. They'd only go down 1/2 game with a loss with a chance to take the lead back at home in less than 2 weeks.

Packers on the other hand, would go down 1 1/2 and have to win in Chicago.

A lot is made of the Bears schedule, but GB has Denver, Bears x 2, and Baltimore. I know the Ravens have struggled, but they'll be a pretty desperate team, you'd think Week 17. Meanwhile, the Bears have the easiest game on paper of the 2 (Cleveland) and I honestly think Week 18 will matter as much for Detroit as it will for GB's opponent, the Vikings.

I think part of that is that a Bears loss exposes, or reiterates the common assumption that they are paper leader right now. If they lose to GB then the assumption is they will lose again next time they play at home, because GB is supposed to be better and they would have proved it on the field.

The football world expects Chicago to fall on its face, and maybe sneak in as a wild card before getting stomped in round one. If they beat GB, that expectation will be mostly thrown out the window

I really think the Bears passing game is gonna click here at some point before the season is out.  The coaching staff is gonna get everybody in the right places.  And no better time than this week for that to happen.

I get what you are saying and in a year or two, I would be right with you in this situation. This year, though, the Bears are now on house money. I'd say enjoy the ride. The pressure is on the Packers and they haven't been exactly steady when the heat is on.

For certain, it's only a matter of when, not if, I remember Ben talking about December being the month when the offense is going to click.  I think Caleb' getting close to taking a big leap, you can see it in the film studies.

Here's what I'll say about Caleb and the passing game: the receivers are getting open and Caleb is finding them. He's not always hitting them with accurate passes, and they aren't always coming down with the ball, but the scheme is working, the guys are getting open, and Caleb isn't holding onto the ball too long (not anymore, anyway) or misreading the defenses. He just isn't always delivering an accurate ball, and/or the guys are falling down or dropping the pass.

This is a huge, marked improvement from the last few guys we've had both at OC and at QB. We'd have just complete and total dysfunction. Mitch and Justin couldn't operate the offense at all, our OCs were simpletons, morons or overly ambitious and rigid. None of it worked in any consistent way.

They're very close to just being an insane offense. They're already a good offense. Which is crazy for being less than a year together.

But will Caleb put the ball in the right places? I’ll believe it when I see it, so please let me see it this week.

Caleb did say they are close.

The pressure is on the Packers to…beat the Bears at Lambeau Field? I doubt they feel much pressure to do the thing they’ve been doing with ease for 20 years.

This isn’t meant to predict the outcome of Sunday’s game, but if there’s a monkey on anyone’s back it’s the Bears.

Obviously, I disagree. The acquisition of Parsons put the pressure on the Packers. They are expected to win.

“The Packers significantly improving their roster by adding a top 5 defensive player puts extra pressure on them to win thereby making it more likely they fold under pressure.” Huh.

If the Bears beat the Packers on Sunday, you can pretty count the Packers out of the Division race and they would go to the 7th spot in the playoffs I think. That would be 2/3 wins for the Bears against the Packers and one blocked FG away from 3/3. LaFleur’s job could be back on the line in the year that they traded for Micah Parsons. The Bears are playing with house money in a year they weren’t supposed to be the top team in the NFC, so the pressure is on the Packers.

you know, respect. like how dare the Chicago Bears develop the BEST OFFENSIVE LINE IN THE NFL when micah was supposed to waltz his way to the super bowl?

I dont know how else to interpet what hes getting at. hes pissed because the bears are good(?)

Ohtani put pressure on the Dodgers to win the World Series too.

Not at all. They have the same number of losses and hold any tie breaker scenario where both teams finish with the same win total. They’d need to sweep the packers, beat Cleveland and then either the 49ers or Lions unless the the packers  lose @Denver. Even with a win it’s a difficult path.

I'm not sure "develop" is the right word to describe the Bears OLine unit. "purchased" might be a better definition.

If the Bears win, they’d be up two wins on the Packers and it would be really tough to tie the Bears in the win column and then have the tie game in your back pocket. It’s a must-win game for the Packers.

if Parsons was using that kind of logic when trying to negotiate with Jerry Jones, maybe that's why things went sideways lol

I have no idea what Parsons was trying to say in that clip. But he's pretty damn good on the field.

The only thing I can think of is that he didn’t like Ben Johnson’s comments at his hiring presser as if just because Ben is here, the winning he did in Detroit will automatically transfer over. I haven’t heard Brisker say anything controversial lately either. Or Parsons is just weird and is trying to get himself fired up.
