The bears were the talk of the league after a shocking performance against the eagles that vaulted them into the top spot in the NFC. But the general consensus is this will not last and Chicago is a 6 point underdog up in dairy land. Would another shocking upset win finally put to bed the narrative that this Bears team has been lucky to get to this spot with a slew of close wins over bad teams and few quality victories? Probably. But a loss of any kind, even one that is well played and a “tip your hat” type of result will solidify that narrative and keep this team on the bottom of most people’s NFC playoff expectations.

oh, and it’s going to be cold.

I’m not hedging about the goodness of the Bears anymore. They’re one of the best of the NFC, and even if they lose (against another one of the top NFC teams) it won’t change my feelings about them.

Jordan love is, unfortunately, pretty good. And Green Bay, annoyingly, is pretty good. Of course our road to the playoffs has to go through them in what almost looks like a baseball style series. But we only really need a split with them. It’s too bad this first one is in Lambeau.

I’m still waiting for Green Bay to experience 30 years of football incompetence and lacking a QB. It’s only fair.

Is Trapilo considered the starting LT moving forward? They're going up against Parsons - Garrett - Parsons the next three weeks. I imagine they'd look at attacking him or Benedet if he steps in, but it will be a good test to see if there's something there.

Either way, it's looking like they have three legitimate tackle prospects under the age of 25.

I foresee lots of running plays

Bears 35

Cheese 10

Stick with the run.  If the Bears can do that successfully, they'll have a significant TOP advantage and that will keep Love on the sidelines more.  I think Love is pretty good.  He has a solid combo of pocket movement and downfield throwing ability.  When they can establish the run, it means an easier time downfield and then look out.  Also, when he gets in trouble, he just throws it up for grabs and gets PI.  He does this regularly, so it's not just luck.

Man, I hate hate hate the Packers.  Even a split with that horrible franchise this year will be a big win in my mind.

I would say 1970-1991 was a fairly rough period for them.  Maybe not complete incompetence but they only made the playoffs twice, had 4 winning seasons and never had a long term QB solution.  Of course most of us weren't alive or were kids during this era so we didn't get to experience most of it.  But I do remember the Packers being a meh organization when I started watching football as Favre was just getting there.

Ha, yeah I started watching the Bears during the 1984 playoffs and I don't think I saw them lose to the Packers until like 1989(Don Majikowski lol). And even after that they beat them quite often until the Wanny era started

Bears' week to week DVOA:

Pretty steady improvement from the Baltimore game on, just need to get the passing game clicking.

I remember as well, Forrest Greg, etc., the Bears kicking the horsefeathers out of them.  For the longest time the Bears dominated the rivalry and had a substantial lead in the series then, the last 25-30 years happened.  I do believe the tides are turning, the Bears may not begin to dominate the series again but, the days of it being one-sided in the Packers' favor are over.  No more coaching incompetence and ****** QB's for the Packers to exploit.

I know it'll be cold but, I'm wondering if this will be a game where Caleb may have the chance at a big game.  The Packers maybe having to play one of their best run stoppers - Wyatt - are almost certain to overreact/over commit to stopping the Bears' run game.  Leaving lots of opportunity for Caleb, it's going to be the whole make the Bears QB play QB to beat us approach.  Worked with Justin and Mitch, why not try it with Caleb?  I know many are harping on some Caleb' missed throws and inconsistency, it's reasonable.  After watching some of film though, one can see Caleb' getting closer and closer, it's going to happen and holy horsefeathers it's going to be something.  Don't know if Bears fans will be able handle a team with an unstoppable offense.

Remember that horsefeathers blocked FG the kicker caught and ran in for the winning score? Some dipshit kicker named Chester Marcol?

Guess the kicker wasn't a complete dipshit, made the pro-bowl a couple of times and lead the NFL scoring in 72 and 74.  By 1980, his was cocaine addict, guess he tried to commit suicide in 86.  Today he's a drug abuse counselor which I can respect.

Run it until they prove they can stop it. Micah Parson can do some serious damage. No reason to get away from your strength in a must-win game.

I was 5 years old when the Packers acquired Brett Favre so all I've known is complete and total Packers domination, with only a handful of breaks.

I'm not sure I've even seen the Bears sweep the season series before.

Fake Edit: Huh, they swept the series in 2007? That year was so disappointing and forgettable I didn't even remember that. But I do remember 2005, Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman teaming up to sweep em. I just looked those box scores up and Kyle Orton was 6 of 17 in one of those wins, lmao. What an era.

That's my thinking as well. Ben has definitely tried to get the passing game going, so he's not going to go to the Justin Fields Bears gameplan. Even in a dominant running game last week, Caleb still threw it 36 times + had a few scrambles, granted they ran an insane 80+ plays!

The threat of the run game SHOULD slow down Parsons/Gary and then there's playaction that keeps them at bay a bit (depending how aggresive they play it). Gotta stay out of true passing situations like 2nd and 3rd and long.

Plus, call me crazy, but I'm putting a lot of stock into Caleb being a big play/big situation guy. He has proven his late game prowess and even put together a big "put away" drive on Friday. So maybe he treats Packers week as a game long big situation. He has 5 games over 70% completion and 2 of them were GB last year. Granted, the last game was a lot of dinking and dunking and they scored on short fields, but maybe there's something to that and Bears pull this one out.

I'm fine with a split with GB, but damnit I want the 1 to be this one. LOL.

Devonte Wyatt got injured in the Lions game and is out for the season. That's a big blow to their defensive line, which should be good for the run game. I'm going into this game with the same confidence I feel like the players are going to have. Ben will get them pumped and then they just need a good sustained drive early to dominate the Packers on their own turf. Hope they get some LB's back for Sunday.

I saw the play where Wyatt got hurt and it looked brutal.  Actually felt bad for the guy.  But yeah there's no coming back from that.
