The Cubs were very unlikely to have been able to win this with two runs on the game - I'm not sure much has changed right now. They always needed a few.

There was a time last year, or even earlier this season, where Palencia's control would have been an issue in that situation.  But he has been great lately with the ability to come in and throw strikes.

I thought that you meant that the Cubs are wasting outs by playing people who can't hit at the bottom of the order

I would have loved for Rae to completely shut the Brewers down, but you really can't complain about getting nearly 3 innings of 1 run ball from the #5 starter/long relief guy.

Not even that. He's throwing his slider well. That's his thing. You beat him when he hangs that horsefeathers. He's dialed it in for once. Pitch is elite in shape and velo. But he can't throw it middle middle. He's located it well.

scoring multiple runs off this dork or making him throw so many pitches that he can’t cover 4 innings was the key to winning and the cubs haven’t done it.
