I have zero faith in anyone behind Happ driving in a run in this situation.

I always joke about Swanson not doing anything. I believe that he is 3-17 with 11 strikeouts

Looking confused is not part of the rule, the idea that no one on the field could have caught the ball with ordinary effort is just not true.  Counsell not getting himself tossed arguing a misapplication of a judgement call is not proof they got it right.

Well nobody did catch it with ordinary effort so…

I mean it’s a tough one. Umps clearly waited because it looked like the Cubs weren’t going to catch it. Then they didn’t catch it. Seems like whichever way they ruled, a manager would have been mad.

best record in baseball with a week off and 6 strong from their ace in Game 1 and they're still patching bullpen games for every non-Peralta start, what an unserious roster

Yeah I've spent the last 5 minutes trying to figure out why they went with a full on bullpen game on Monday. Obviously they are still in the driver seat but they've got to get 52 outs in the next two days without Peralta, Priester, and (likely) the Misier-whatever and I'm not totally sure what that plan is

I think they did it for exactly this reason. They knew Priester and Q are bad matchups. So they tried to go BP game Monday and steal it, then back to Wrigley and the wind for their two bad ones. Save Freddy for 5 if needed.

Peralta is on 4 days rest tomorrow so I'm sure that's the plan for tomorrow, Misiorowski likely available in that game if not for a shorter outing today too with the off day.  I'm less criticizing the plan and more marveling that a team so consistently good can't find more than one (1) guy they trust to get 10 outs.

If I had to pick from any of the remaining playoff teams to rattle off three straight against, it would be this scrub Brewer team easily
