The goofy schedule has everyone a little confused.

I like that you think my inability to count is because the week is weird. And appreciate it.

This is bad logic, but a 10-8 victory is way more damaging here than a 9-1 victory. We go up 6 or 7 they'll probably just punt with Quintana and Gasser. The game stays close and they're going to want to use their top arms.

You think the Brewers are done scoring?

They need to add on at least 2-3 more runs

It would really be nice to score more. But the Brewers will be in a tough spot themselves. Down-3, Cubs have a full and fresh pen, wind blowing in, and their lineup isn't particularly strong tonight with guys like Lockbridge in.

They aren't free from worry by any stretch, but this isn't set up as a juggernaut lineup. Decent chance 4 will be enough. But absolutely don't stop either.

That, and the Brewers thought so highly of Priester that they went with a bullpen game ahead of him. And then still put Priester above Quintana in the pecking order. Quintana hasn't pitched since 9/14 and has a 7.40 ERA in his last four starts/20 innings, to use the ever popular 'how did he do in September' sample size. Baseball is dumb and our offense is certainly struggling, so he may just shut us out for 5 innings, but....advantage Cubs

Just saying in response to other poster, it would feel much better to add on a couple more here over letting it stay close cause you don't want to give the Brewers any hope and it would be nice to also see the Brewers use up a couple more pen guys over having Q shut them down for 4+ innings.

You love to see a screaming liner from Suzuki actually fall in for an XBH. Those just seem destined to end up in an outfielders glove most of the time

Don't disagree it'd feel good. Especially with the RHH coming up; Q is horrible against RHH.

Just saying, I think four might be enough tonight as is. But might as well get more, too. Why not?

A bit odd that Pat Murphy is burning arms like this.

He's got to be feeling incredibly confident in his offense at the moment. Hopefully comes back to bite him

Quintana throwing 88-92. Why are they fouling off so many. He shouldn't be fooling anyone with this velocity.

I think they hope Q can eat 3+ here with the wind blowing in. But he's so bad against RHH.

I'm glad he got a hit, but I could have lined that hanging slider into left. That wasn't some kind of baseball genius.

Also, that was dumb to even partially offer at that ball and allow the ump to make a judgement call.

It was a very bad call, which is not his fault.

If he's left in, they'll get to Quintana.

I'd guess he's their Civale and Brown; they want him to eat three or four.

Should be a good spot for the RHH's. He's rocking a 5.15 xFIP, and a 14 K% against RHH. He's horrible against them.
