Jed said on the score this morning that mechanical adjustments due to his finger injury have likely contributed to his poor hitting of late.

I'm so annoyed they didn't IL him for 15 days. what an idiotic move

tallion was not called up today. Assad went to Iowa, Luke Little called up and Gavin Hollowell will be the 27th man. Strange

Guessing they'll wait til after game 1, then likely reinstate Taillon and drop Brown

The Tucker comment is super concerning . Entirely possible that he won’t be the real Kyle Tucker the rest of the way . They didn’t give him a couple of weeks and now the entire season is horsefeathered .

Which is strange because he had his best month of year after the injury in June.

Something happened around the AS break that they're not sharing, that around the time he started looking like Heyward.

It's probably something that's going to take a surgery or several months to fully heal and playing isn't going to make it worse so here we are.

He probably asked them not to cause he could play through it.

Im gonna guess that maybe depending on how this series goes and where they stand after this weekend series, will determine if they start resting guys more and limiting their top 3 SP and relievers to get them healthy and rested for the end of Season and into the playoffs.

Cubs win 4 or sweep and continue to roll through the weekend, then first place is still a target. I think anything less then 4 wins, then it basically changes nothing in the standings and with no more Head to Head against the Brewers the focus will mainly be on the no.1 WC spot and getting guys healthy and rested more.

So, if that the case we could see Tucker go on 10 day IL when they head West this weekend if he struggles against the Brewers and they lose 2 or more games, and Caissie will just start for him.

I suck at those rolling graphs things that all the smart people post here, but tried playing around with them a little bit and seemed like Tucker was at least hitting the ball harder lately. GB rate is spiking along with it, which is bad, but he through a pretty clear dip in his Hard Hit% that seems to have mostly gone back to the earlier season levels. It sucks we might not see April/May Tucker, but even 80% of it is still better than the alternatives.

Unless/until things get drastically tighter in the standings, my dumb optimist brain is really just focused on continued health and effectiveness from the starting pitching. I keep waiting for it to explode, either on the Boyd/Horton health side or Rea/Taillon/a little bit Shota on the effectiveness side, but it's been looking really impressive lately and every day without bad health news is another day closer to October with what looks to be a really effective top three starters.

Can't really do much about the hitters besides hope they come around and luck finds us at the right time. This group was elite as recently as like 3 months ago, clearly they can do it, and help isn't coming anyways. It's not going to keep me up at night when they struggle in August, it just doesn't matter yet. But going into October with like....Taillon and Rea/Assad as your #2 and #3 is effectively a death sentence.

Caissie made that a little scary but nice grab to save 1-2 runs.

Really wish Horton's scoreless streak wasn't broken by an inherited runner scoring.

Prior to that line shot that luckily stayed in the park, Horton looked really good. He's got the swing and miss going.

The second inning was a little Ben Brown-ish. Couple very nasty pitches, couple points where he looked effectively wild, but the two hits and the lineout were all hit very hard. Hopefully it's just a grip issue and he can figure out a fix going forward, and we get a little BABIP luck to buy him a couple quick innings.

It’s the Cubs calling card to not IL guys with nagging injuries until it’s too late lol
