Kind of disgusting not to use the prospect capital when your team is a top 3 in the league to acquire at least a number 2 pitcher.

This.  You may not like the price tag, but you have to pay up when you have a chance. Sigh

Playoff baseball is different than regular season baseball

Yeah all the below-average SP depth we have doesn't mean anything

We couldn't even get Charlie Morton's corpse?

Tigers poached him but I wanted him to eat some innings, especially with Horton's situation

Jed is too conservative. He’s afraid to pull the trigger on a big move. Honestly, even trading for Tucker this offseason was shocking to me.

There is no way Kyle Tucker is playing for the Cubs this year.  Enough precincts are reporting and I can officially make that call.

With Jed clutching his prospects this tightly, there's no way in hell Tucker is a Cub next year and none of the other guys who are FAs after 2026 are getting extensions either.

I was question about my lack of confidence in Jed to make an honest attempt at improving the Cubs.  Here's example #1 as to why.

He’ll go to one of the 27 other organizations who’ve handed out $200+ million contracts.

Hoyer looking ahead to not signing Tucker, trading Happ and or Suzuki in their final year ( get them to waive NTC).

Agreed, I think the chances are slim

Yeah I’ve not been one of those fans who say Tucker is for sure gone after the year. I thought they had a legit chance of keeping him. But today showed me they don’t expect him to be here.

Tucker is definitely gone.

I mean, you're not looking forward to Cassie striking out for 3+ months in 2026?  Come on...

On Tucker, if he doesn't go a on massive heater in the remaining 54 games, will he be able to command long term big money?  His numbers right now are good but, they're not that good.

Man, managing innings in this rotation is going to be a high wire act for the next two months. I can’t believe this.

Imagine if Boyd and Horton need to be shut down.  We'll limp to the finish line.

By my count, the big SPs who were targets this deadline who were not moved are:

Cease, Keller, Ryan, Gore, Cabrera, Alcantara, Gallen

Anyone else I'm missing?

Cease got traded.

Jed strategically got himself extended right before the deal making began.

He did exactly what the Rickets family paid him to do not spend very much money.
