Hopefully soon...

@TommyBirch

Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya says he's 100% healthy. He looked that way during his first rehab game with the @IowaCubs Tuesday.

A look at how things went for Amaya in his first night in Des Moines.

The reds lost , so the Cubs still have a pretty good lead for a playoff spot . Pressly may be getting in danger of getting DFA as well .

This team has so many holes right now on this roster . It’s going to be impossible to fix all the problems they have  in the next 48 hours

honestly, it's kind of nice that the entire bullpen minus palencia decided to turn back into a pumpkin patch at this specific point in the season.

it's like they were saying "hey jed, just in case you were focusing too much energy on starting pitchers or a 3B, please remember that you absolutely cannot trust us at all and bringing in reliable relievers should still be priority no. 1"

Obviously Jed knows so much more about baseball than me but Neris and Pressly both had poor peripherals the prior season and lacked the ability to miss bats. I get that they were both good at one point but I don’t know why we made them both prominent acquisitions. Pressly especially because we had to trade for him and guarantee him the closer role to start the year for him to accept the trade.

no more bad Astros relievers please

Very true and I think most sane posters on this board would agree with you. However, IF Hoyer can get one solid rotation piece and one solid bullpen piece that's a good start IMO. Gotta consider that Tallion, Assad and Hodge are all coming back in the next 2-3 weeks to add to whomever Hoyer acquires. Looking for a silver lining I guess. First thing's first: better win tomorrow.

Happ is getting x rays . I wonder how they react if he has to miss time ?  Take Cassie out of trade talks and call him up ? Push hard for Suarez ?

I could be wrong, but that type of foul ball off the top of the foot, while painful, rarely results in a significant injury.  Most likely a bruise and out for a couple days.

If he was actually out for awhile, that would be an interesting conundrum.

If Happ has to miss a lot of time I wonder if it increases the Cubs pursuit of Suarez. Move Tucker to LF, Seiya to RF, Suarez to DH and Shaw stays at 3B

Interesting.

Maybe the Il stint will do Happ some good. He’s really no better than a AAA hitter rn anyways. Let him reset and come back on a heater hopefully

Jesse Rogers just reported that Ballestero’s is being called up

So this probably means Caissie and possibly even Alcantara are getting traded, cause why else wouldn't they call up an outfielder and instead another Catcher

The numbers throughout the offense over the last 2 weeks are horsefeathers atrocious up and down. Busch, Tucker (don't care about the walks dude, you need to horsefeathers slug) Seiya, Happ, Swanson- have all been horrible. Pathetically slow to adjust. And it coincides with Busch going to leadoff. Counsell really horsefeathered that up.

Yall still think our offense is so much better than theirs? You're letting the first couple months delude you.

@Bertz showed the other day that the Cubs offense, using BP's wRC+ tool which factors in quality of opponent has the Cubs as the 2nd best offense since May 22nd as well. The Brewers were 23rd. The Cubs have faced a ton of really good SPs. Anecdotally we can find individual games were that is not true, but over the long stretch its been a pretty unlucky run of catching great arms.

Last few nights have been frustrating for sure (add in the sad news about Ryne Sandbeeg as well and from a personal standpoint have said "welp, that's enough baseball for tonight" in annoyance before the 6th twice in a row now) but I think the offense is fine. In a 162 game season things go up and things go down. Currently Tucker, Suzuki and Busch are in funks, Happ can't buy a lucky break and when four of your starters who should be among you six best hitters are all sluggish, it feels like the end of the world.

Those players will not remain bad. And much like how Chris Flexen reverted to Chris Flexen, those guys will all revert back to themselves.

The Brewers are a good team and will be a challenge the rest of the way, but the sinking feeling many are having about the 2025 season is probably more to due with the Cubs' on a down note, the Brewers near their zenith in terms of "hot" play as well as an internal nagging voice saying "remember 2018!" (and I have had to remind myself a few times that 2018 can't hurt me any more) for many fans. Things can change on a dime. Lots to go.

Agreed. Or, if not traded, they are guys Cubs are discussing in trade(s). Ballasteros is fine since Suzuki can just play the OF. But if they are going with the best they have now in the minors I would think Cassie would be the guy. 🤷

Tucker was out 3 months last year after a foul ball to his shin fractured it.  Here's hoping Happ is OK
