Today v. Guardians
3 home games v. Cardinals
3 road games v. Twins
3 road games v. Yankees

Guardians throwing an emergency starter tonight.  We miss Sonny Gray against the Cards, and we likely get the back of the Twins rotation as well.

That Yankees series looks all caps SCARY but the 7 before that shouldn't be too bad

Tonight’s original Guardians starter being investigated. Eep

No one knows why, but likely it's either gambling or something very, very bad on the criminal front

Gambling eh? A few days ago it was Beasley of the PIstons, now Ortiz is imploding his career for some side cheddar. Hope it was worth it, but I highly doubt it

Would be nice to go 5-1 or 5-2 before that Yankee series . That one doesn’t look great .

You’re right, it doesn’t look great for the Yankees.

Looks like Cubs will have Rea Taillon and Boyd for the Cardinals series, gotta hope to get one of the first 2 games and then hopefully Boyd can get the series win on Sunday.

Guardians going with a lefty tonight

I feel like the Cubs are licking their chops for that St Louis series.  They looked dominant in those last 2 games and St Louis is not playing well right now.  Could be a chance to put them out of their misery.  If they are 7 or 8 games back come deadline time, no chance they go for it.

I’m at my first game at Wrigley in 10+ years. In sluggers right now.

Gonna have to pirate this one. Apparently I'm in the blackout area for Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and both New York teams

Not to mention, nearly all the Cardinals' staff is a great match up for the Cubs.  Almost the whole of their starters are just perfect for the Cubs - nothing over powering, keep the ball down, right hand dominate - they've crushed these guys.

Agreed.  I'd be shocked if the Cubs can't win 2 of those 3 and possibly even all 3.  St. Louis doesn't scare me at all.

It's gambling

Obviously, their season is over. They should trade Ramirez to the Cubs

I'd do it, even if it cost the Cubs 3 or 4 of their best prospects

I'll be livid if Seiya isn't headed to the all star game

Probably not fair but it’s gonna be tough. Obviously Ohtani is the starter. I can’t see them carrying more than 2 so it would be between Seiya, Schwarber, Devers and possibly Hunter Goodman if Colorado needs an All-Star

Lets look at how they stack up:

fWAR: Schwarber 2.3, Suzuki 2.0, Goodman 1.9, Devers 1.9

wRC+: Schwarber 150, Devers 138, Suzuki 137, Goodman 123

wOBA: Schwarber .391, Devers .372, Goodman .368, Suzuki .367

HR: Schwarber 26, Suzuki 23, Devers 17, Goodman 16

RBI: Suzuki 73, Devers 64, Schwarber 58, Goodman 50

OPS: Schwarber .912, Suzuki .869, Devers .861, Goodman .857

Theres more we can look at but you get the picture.  No one would have any gripes if Seiya got an All Star nod but if they are only taking 1 extra DH Schwarber kind of stands out from the crowd with Seiya and Devers a step behind and Goodman as the designated Rockies option

Yeah it's gonna be tough for Seiya. You can make the argument that Goodman goes as the catcher, taking him out of the DH equation. And you can argue Devers either not going or it being a Samardzija situation because of the timing of the trade. But then he's still contending with Schwarber, who's also posting solid numbers and is a fan favorite/well liked around the league. I doubt they pick 3 DHs.

Posting my preemptive “nincompoop” for when PCA (who I think is amazing) records his daily TOOTBLAN.

Busch should also make the team, but I am not sure he does. Hoerner too.  But I think the surest all star on the Cubs will be Boyd. After that I am not sure Busch, Suzuki, Hoerner or Kelly get added.

I'd like to see Busch get the start tonight, this is not a Skubal, Luzardo, Gore type LHP.  He's s soft tosser whom I believe Busch can handle or, at very least, be more of threat than Justin Turner.  This guy isn't much different than Walter maybe slightly worse.
