I’m with squally on this one. I genuinely wonder how some of daily doom-and-gloomers manage to survive their day to day lives when they can’t handle their favorite baseball team having a bad series.

I can handle it just fine. Just pointing out the facts of how bad this staff has been the last 4 games and he starts falling apart over it. Calling a spade a spade doesn't mean you need to turn in your fan card. It's OK to admit when things aren't kosher.

Donovan Solano career wRC: 98

carson Kelly career wRC: 89

Accurate to say they're both below average, with a 2.1 WAR Kelly' already having a better season than Solano will have in 2025.

Cubs came into June with a 3 game lead in the division. After a terrible stretch (I say terrible because based on all I have read they have had to be terrible) they end today with a 3.5 game lead. I have also read how well the Brewers and Cardinals have been playing so it is very confusing to process that the Cubs have played terrible and the teams behind them have played great and then realize the cubs extended their lead in the central during the month of June. 🤷

Other guy: this is the worst pitching performance in baseball’s storied history

me: I don’t know man, there were some obviously unique circumstances going on here, we’ve been pretty good all year

Other guy: I hope your life gets better, homophobic slur

I honestly never thought of that as having anything to do with homosexuality. Is "pain in the butt" off limits too?

Yes, it is. Some posters just never take a break from it, even when things are going well. It can get exhausting.

Fair enough. I'm new(er) to the board and will try to stay more positive...that's on me. Have a good night all.

It actually better,  4 up on Brewers and 4.5 on Cardinals now.

After going 5 and 5 the last 10, they lost 2 games to the Brewers and 1 on the Cardinals which isnt bad at all.

I normally dont scoreboard watch til August if theyre playing well and have a chance and would be happy to be either at least 5 up or within 5 on September 1st.

Cubs are fine now, just keep avoiding the long losing streak, add some upgrades, and if they can play 600 ball the rest of way, they'll end up with around 95 wins.

I think you lifted those numbers right before the Brewers clinched their win today.  They’re 3.5 back, St Louis is 4.5

Does Pearson have any options left?  If not, I've feeling this is his last chance to stick as a Cub.  Hodge and Little have to be getting close.

The thing that cracks me up most is the complete inability to consider context.  Like "Wrigley is the biggest hitters park in the league when the wind is blowing out and the biggest pitchers park in the league when the wind is blowing in" is a thing you learn on day 3 of becoming a Cubs fan?  How has the last month been so flummoxing to so much of this fanbase?

And don't even get me started on the lack of ball knowing on display when like, Zack Wheeler has a good day.

I honestly had no idea “butt hurt” was a homophobic slur.  You learn something new everyday.

Little has been healthy, they just don’t want him on the team right now. They have enough lefties. Hodge is about to come back, but he got rocked for 7 runs in 0.1 innings in Nashville a few days ago. Pearson has 1 option left.

I understand frustration, however sometimes I feel like some posters have never followed a team through an entire season. Or maybe they don’t even watch any other team play. It does get frustrating to here so many people made ridiculous statements. Again, I get some frustration, but people go too far.

They had 3 lefties in the pen when Cabrera was here, so I don’t think k Little being left handed will exclude him from an option to be in the pen.

I have lived through some pretty dismal seasons with my sports teams. Brian Sutter challenging Tyler Arnason to a fight. Starlin Castro being the only AB in the lineup worth watching. I’m not going to let a bad game or a series that didn’t go our way spoil a really fun team and a fun season for me.

They need pitching at the deadline and right now, as well.

Shota coming back helps with the right now.  Given he's been out for a month+ it's almost like a trade.

They do. But you can’t make teams trade if they don’t want to. And you don’t want to overpay in a panic move. Shota coming back will help. For now that is all they can do.

To try to alleviate some of the stress on here about that series. If we lose tomorrow’s game to the Cardinals, we will have matched our season high 3 losses in a row, suffered between May 6th-9th (Giants/Mets), and tomorrow is Game 78 of the year.

This is a very good and consistent team. The series against the Mariners could have been played five days ago and it would have looked different. They scored 30 runs. Cubs scored 20 runs. The wind was blowing out and the intense heat throughout would have made everyone perform worse than they are capable of. It was a weird series.
