Very satisfying win.  It seems like they are stretching out Horton bit by bit, what a weapon that will be down the stretch.

Palencia deserves a lot of credit, even despite that blown save yesterday he's probably been a top 5 reliever in the sport over the last ~5 weeks.  He's figured something out

He’s the type of guy you want coming out of the pen in the late innings. Throwing absolute gas touching 101mph at times.

I was at this game.  Good win and good fun with the 90% Cub fans in attendance.  I have not been to a game for a long time.  Do all the parks have non stop loud music and sound effects between every freaking pitch?  Not to mention between innings.   Blasting crap from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave.  Not the greatest place to see a game.  Felt like an operating room.  Other than that, good win and good game.  All 3 of the fly balls in the 9th had the Cub fans groaning.  They all looked like they were going out.

LOL the loud music is pretty much a thing now.  It’s kind of cool being able to walk up to the ticket office and pick a good seat like you can no doubt do in Miami.  I did that in Seattle once.  As a Cub fan there was something special about saying I’d like to buy a ticket and being asked “ok where would you like to sit?”

Good win today.  It’s nice to win a few low scoring games.  Makes me feel better about our pitching.

Good chance we saw you on TV, somewhere in the crowd of 100 people. All kidding aside, yes the constant noise is annoying now. Cincinnati is just as bad. Constantly doing the "Clap your hands" bit.

There’s only one team in MLB with more wins than the Cubs (DET).

Phillies have 31 wins.

Red = fastball,. gold = slider, green changeup. He's yanking too many sliders and no one is chasing them. They need to be closer to the zone. Not by a ton, but a little. Whether it's over-hyper, or under-confident he's just missing on those. Less wasteful sliders will result in more chase.

I agree.

Dumb send with Shaw up next.

Agree.  With this lineup there's really no reason to do the egregious sends with 2 outs.  Especially with a lame Marlins pitcher on the mound.

I just realised something, tonight was Game 50 of the year and not a single one of those have been lost to rain. Some have been in a weather delay, but the game started and finished that day. The last year we had our first rainout later than this in a season was on June 2nd 2010 (Game 54).

Now why is this information important? I have no horsefeathers idea.

PCA should have beat out that bobbled grounder, would have if he ran out of the box.  He's too young and fast to not be running balls out.  This isn't the first time lately he's done that either.  Somebody teach these kids how to play ball FFS.

Agreed, he's the kind of home grown prospect you see other teams develop, throwing over 100 and missing bats, just has taken him a while.  And he'll learn from Monday and next time he gets a guy like Hill 0-2 won't bail him out he'll throw the heater he can't touch.

Didn't have to be 100+ anything 95+ in the zone would have gotten him.  The Cubs did him a favor by throwing a breaking ball.  As you said live and learn.

This obsession with one pitch in a series we won is getting to be a little much, no? Hill's first AB of the year he pulled a 96 mph Skenes sinker 112 mph down the line for a double. He's a major league hitter, this isn't some black and white decision, people do occasionally get hits in an 0-2 count, even below average hitters.

PCA didn't respect 90.

Not to mention his heat is not that elusive

It actually is kind of important.  It means there haven't been any off days sacrificed later in the season or DHs scheduled to screw up the rotation or routine.  That alone can be huge for a team that's already keeping a close eye on pitcher workloads.

I just went back and watched the play because I was curious and the complaint is even more silly than I realized.  He absolutely ran it out.

I read the post, decided it was sarcasm, had a quick second thought given how hard it is to tell around here these days, and then decided it was best for me if I just moved on.

PCA, and this team, are exceeding everyone's wildest expectations (especially because all these same people said the team sucked going into the year). But given 54 outs of almost daily baseball, I guess you can always find, and endlessly linger on, some perceived fault.
