Gangbusters AB for Berti.

I keep hoping these are 2016 "this team is really good and it takes stupid horsefeathers to beat them" losses and not 2023 "you're going to regret not banking wins when this not-that-good team played its best baseball of the year" losses

This was an incredibly frustrating game.  The next time Counsell pinch-hits Justin Turner over Miguel Amaya, he should punch himself in the testicles instead.  Also, Tucker just needs to stop trying to pull the ball the whole time.  That is why he is in his slump.

It felt like to me he was jumping up while grabbing the railing and his momentum took him up and over being unable to keep a hold of kr. But it's hard to tell and just one guess

Yeah, I hope so. I hope this was just a bad accident and that fan recovers. It’s a horrible video to watch.

He's in this slump because he's 40 damn years old and isn't good at baseball anymore. I'm getting really tired of this annual ritual of letting completely toasted players waste outs for a month and a half.

When the starters keep only going like 5 innings the bullpen is exposed.  Gotta get these guys to go deeper but the boys gotta drive in the runs.

Rough loss with Skenes waiting . Likely a series loss . I would have taken my chances with Amaya over Berti

Having an easy schedule doesn’t matter if you lose to crappy teams like this.

I was thinking earlier today it would be very Cubs, and also very baseball, for them to lose the first series against a crappy team after playing such good baseball against OK to very good teams for a month straight

If Rea keeps them in the game tomorrow, they'll get to the Pirates bullpen.  Man I hate when they lose to ****** ass teams like the Pirates but, that's baseball, sometimes it happens.

Garbage night from the offense. Faced a buck of trash arms too.

Games like tonight are when we need to bank wins. Skenes is tomorrow.

In 162 games, weird things will happen. Ball bounced poorly a few times tonight. Offense didn't have it against some bad pitching.

Go get 'em tomorrow.

I wasn’t saying Turner is slumping. He is a slump at this point. Was talking Tucker for the slump haha. But yes, every time Turner gets an AB it hurts my soul. Very much a waste of roster space. I’m sure he would be a good Assistant Hitting Coach though.

One thing to have a 3Bmen not hitting,  but you 100% need to have a guy who can field the position, Hoyer needs to make a decision soon with Shaw or get someone who can at least field there.

You know who could field there? Nick Madrigal.

Derek Shelton spoke about it in the post-game presser and was very somber. I hope that the fan is okay and able to recover.

Per KDKA out of Pittsburgh, the fan that fell from the right field stands remains in critical condition with a skull fracture.

Say what you will that Wrigley Field’s basket means home runs are travelling a shorter distance than the outfield wall, but it being there prevents fans accidentally falling onto the warning track.

Even worse, he actually pinch hit for Busch last night.

He has done that all year late in a game with a lefty pitching, so that didn’t surprise me. I don’t like it, but he does it. I am very surprised he stayed with Berti when he could have brought in Amaya on that last AB. Just a very frustrating loss so we will find anything he did to complain about. But I would have done Amaya in the 9th. Has he done something to extend the game Lopez or Brujan could have handled 3rd.
