They took on Myles Straw's deal to do it too?  I hope it works but just an incredible scent of desperation for them

It's either super desperate or done with intent. Straw's $15m ain't nothing.

I have never been to Toronto but have heard nothing but incredible things about it as a city.

But what about dumb horsefeathering move that would be from a pure baseball standpoint.  The Blue Jays seem poised to rebound significantly from last year's debacle, however:

- Their best players are primarily pending free agents (Vladito, Bichette) aging pitchers (Gausman, Berrios) or both (Chris Bassit)

- Their farm system is butt, ranked 24th by MLB.com at midseason and 23rd by Fangraphs

- They have shown no ability to get the best out of pitchers.  Just last season they traded away Yusei Kikuchi and Nate Pearson and saw them make minor mechanical/repertoire changes and immediately begin to thrive after year's of mis-management north of the border

Toronto's fine. It's a lesser version of Chicago, at exactly the same size with all the same annoyances.

I agree it is a lot like Chicago. Not sure what you mean by lesser version, however.

Not a surprise, fix was in from the start, I know other teams had to make an effort to keep the doors open for the future.  Still, you makes you wonder if some of them thought it was a worthless exercise.

So the Dodgers now have 8 starting pitchers who would each be a TOR guy on most MLB teams. right?

Snell

Glasnow

Yamamoto

Sasaki

Ohtani

Gonsolin

May

and 4 guys coming off surgery and Miller, Knack, Frasso in AAA. Embarrassment of riches.

Maybe they'll be willing to trade one

I considered that.

Then I remembered the whole money thing.
