It's widely known mlb teams have handshake deals with Latin international signings well in advance to official signing periods. I'm wondering if Sasaki.....

Sasaki and his agents have ben pretty steadfast they don't. As well, the way they've talked, they've made it clear he's willing to go outside of the West Coast and being in a small market may appeal to Sasaki as he doesn't love a ton of attention.

As of right now, I get the feeling he's not going to end up with the Dodgers.

That would be great for MLB if he goes elsewhere other than LA.

I agree, but, I would think, it'd be a surprise if he doesn't end up in LA.

Reading the tea leaves for 29 of 31 teams leads me to believe it will either be San Diego or the Dodgers. The Cubs flipped an outfielder who is high on the list, so that's good.

This may sound defeatist, but if we don't get him....go to the Dodgers. It's not like we're going to competing with them for a wild card spot, yeah their chances of beating us in the NLCS go from 60% to 62%, who cares. Better them than the Mets, Padres, Giants in terms of the Cubs playoff chances.

Or worse, a team in the NL central.

Well, sure, but that's not happening

Why? Thought he might like the idea of a small market?

They seem to be taking this seriously and weighing all the options. If we get some rando saying they saw him at Starbucks in Wrigleyville we know this is serious.

Don't know why the facade/charade of interest in other teams was necessary.  It was always going to be the Dodgers.

I'm certain, once it's official, we'll learn of a handshake agreement being in place all the while.

A am certain we will never hear of a handshake agreement in place the entire time. Not saying they didn’t have one. I am saying we will never hear”officially” hear that.

Looks like the inevitable has happened.  There's no way he's dumb enough to pick the Blue Jays, right?

It's going to be Ohtani 2.0 for Toronto.
