I know that was a ball and he absolutely should not have swung.

I mean he had 2 strikes and that's not a pitch in the dirt.  There's argument for protecting the plate with 2 strikes because exactly what happened can happen.  I'd argue he could go the other way on that pitch and still do some damage or foul it off.   You're allowed to do damage on non-strikes - I'm not advocating swinging at pitchers pitches but in that situation is protecting the plate not an option - especially factoring for those close calls seemingly constantly going against Seiya.  It's probably the frustration clouding my recollection but it seems like there's a lot of called 3rd strikes on really close pitches (not just on Seiya) and I get it - it certainly seems like many of them aren't strikes but the the satisfaction of knowing it was a ball can't be much comfort when your slogging back to the bench once again.

That throw is so bad, considering how much time he had and took to throw it.

That is why it was bad.  He over thought it for sure instead of just throwing the ball.

Yep. It’s when he’s the worst.

Yet another phenomenal start by a Cubs pitcher that is one swing away from being wasted because Jed’s vaunted offense blows

If we get a myrtle beach player for taillon, I won't be able to sleep for 3 years in anticipation of him reaching chicago in late 2027

Taillon raising his trade value this game..

Let the offers begin

I have no idea what to think of the potential Taillon trade market.

There are so many different variables.

- Do teams believe this version of Taillon is sustainable, for the rest of this year and beyond?

- How do teams view his contract situation?  Being locked up for 2 more years at a reasonable salary should be a net positive, but I could also see some teams being scared away by those additional years.

- How do the Cubs view Taillon as a 2025/26 rotation option?  He would seem to be important rotation depth, and you don't trade a guy like that unless the offer is substantial.

I just have a hard time believing the Cubs are going to get the type of offers that would lead them to part with a 2025 rotation piece.

Jed should call Theo and go down the list of offers he is about to receive for Taillon and accept the one Theo tells him is the best one.

Jed is actually pretty good in trades. He just really sucks in FA.

He's being doing it for a full calendar year at this point, not just this season.

I just dont believe the Cubs will get an offer for him thats worth pulling the trigger. His contract is going to eat a lot of his value in trade.

If other team's fans are to be believed, and I know they aren't, Taillon is basically a salary dump that the Cubs should be happy just to get rid of the contract.

Of course.

Everyone feels like this but we seem to get close to the big escape without finishing it off an awful lot

Teams like the Yankees, Braves, Dodgers,  maybe even the Orioles now will make that deal, 18 mil for the next 2 years won't hurt them.

His last 8-10 starts his metrics have actually been that of the exact type of pitcher a playoff team should want. Something like a 50:5 KBB. I'm optimistic. Get him while he's cooking. The Cubs send 10M back and the return could be quite good.
