If other team's fans are to be believed, and I know they aren't, Taillon is basically a salary dump that the Cubs should be happy just to get rid of the contract.

If you go by his ZIPs projections the next 2 years, he's worth 3 fWAR. If you went by the $8M per WAR spent in FA, he's worth $24M. He's owed $34M, beyond this season.

I dont buy any team offering anything of note to take that on. You can manipulate the numbers any way you like, $10M is a large gap to close just to come out even. It's this reason why I dont buy this is a "good chance to be his last game on the Cubs."

He's being doing it for a full calendar year at this point, not just this season.

I just dont believe the Cubs will get an offer for him thats worth pulling the trigger. His contract is going to eat a lot of his value in trade.

Is 18 mil per over the next 2 years really too much for a 3/4 starter?

you guys actually want hoyer to make big-ish trades? I want them to stand pat simply because the front office is bad at their job and I don’t want them doing stuff.

No. It's about par for the course. Teams dont pay in prospects for par. They pay for surplus.

With the SP in their system,  I think the Cubs would be ok getting a mid prospect or two in return while removing his 36 mil off the book.

They can use that money towards a bat then

They aren't going to trade a solid MLB pitcher for a couple of mid prospects in high A.

Hear me out.  How about a solid MLB pitcher AND cash for a couple of mid prospects in high A?
