To silhouette person maybe, but not Altuve

Does Savant not change the strike zone to account for the hitter? Seems like a weird oversight.

I have no idea, I'm being glib mostly.  But if they didn't handle the conversion perfectly, I would imagine Altuve would be a prime candidate

Ah, you'll forgive me. My ability to handle emotion and tone are completely gone after an 8 hour day of middle school.

If you're wondering "Hey, what's that like?" well, I had a boy at 3:30 ask me for a spoon (I don't have one). Five minutes later, I look over, and the kid has a pyrex of mashed potatoes (which had to have been in his backback...literally all day) hand-shoveling them into his mouth using fingers he almost assuredly hadn't washed once all day.

Needless to say, I'm dead inside right now.

Honestly that's a good outing from Neris.  Against the absolute teeth of one of the best middle of the orders in the league a solo dong is fine.

Broadly though it's pretty clear he needs to get back up to sitting closer to 94 to be the guy we thought we were getting. Hopefully it comes with the weather.

W...

a good feeling winning these games without a few key players, makes you think good things are coming when they get healthy again.

IF they get healthy again

15-9 record, injuries to important players, Alzolay blown saves, 8-0 lead ending in another loss.

This team has been incredibly unlucky but still getting it done.

Also our entire starting OF is hurt

And against a pretty tough schedule, with a series against the Dodgers, both of last year's WS teams, and another playoff team in the Astros. Even if it's been smoke and mirrors, I'll take it.

Went perusing through various 'is this smoke and mirrors' stats:

  • 15th in offensive BABIP
  • 1st in however FG measures offensive clutch, which, as an avid game thread horsefeathers, lol
  • 6th best record in baseball, 9th best RD
  • Our ERA (4.03) is right in line with our FIP (4.02) and xFIP (3.98)
  • 14th lowest defensive BABIP
  • 13th in pitching clutch

All in all...maybe a little bit of sequencing luck on offense? But not going to fret about that too much given how shorthanded we've been playing.

15-9 is great, but it sure feels like this is all smoke and mirrors and the injuries are going to catch up soon.

Sounds exactly like all Counsell teams. Every year we expect Milw. To suck and they win when no one expects them to be good. Now maybe he does that for the Cubs.
