IMO, I could care very little about the quantity of picks in this year's draft, I rather have the quality of the prospect. So give me Caleb and say Marvin Harrison, Jr over having 5 or 6 draft picks.

Sure, but we may not have the assets it would take to move up far enough to get him.

We don't know what Poles is willing to give up to move up. With that said, I am perfectly fine with the Bears staying put at 9 and keeping the few picks they do have in this year's draft.

Yup, and if the Chargers pick was for sale quite a few teams would be able to blow the Bears offer out of the water anyway.

You would but I'm trying to project the feasibility of a MHJ trade based on how Poles operates and I don't see it.  I also think that MHJ while the clear top WR in the draft is not the only locked in WR1 in the draft so if there's even a shot that one of the other 2 fall to them I think it would be wasting resources to move up.

I doubt the Bears are moving up but if they chose to, I have no problems with the Bears walking out of the draft with just two players, especially if the two are Caleb and MHJ (or Alt, or Nabors).

NE (Ben Volin) guy suggested the Bears are going to be aggressive in their pursuit of MHJ (I don't know what he's heard, so take it for what it's worth). He suggests 9 and 75 plus next years first and a 3rd or 4th or something like that to move up to 3. I would not trade '25 first rd, but I would trade the CAR pick. I think there could be a deal to be made but I think it's unlikely.

I would hate this beyond words.

So with the rumblings of Atlanta being punished for tampering with Cousins, what happens if they lose the 8th pick (I've seen speculation they move ATL from 8 to 32 as punishment for example)?

Assuming 3 QBs after Caleb, Alt and 2 WRs gets you the 3rd WR, or if all 3 receivers you can take Alt. Which would you prefer?

I think at this point Alt is #1 for me.  I think if we can nab one of Alt/Odunze/Naybors I'm ecstatic.  If not I'll be a bit disappointed and I'm not so sure trading back a couple spots doesn't become the right play.

That seems like an insane punitive measure.  Based on the Jimmy Johnson draft chart (which is whatever in terms of validity), it would be stripping them of the 20th overall pick.  I'm sure they want to make an example out of them though especially with how blatant they were about it, but I think stripping them of a 3rd or 4th round pick seems more fair...but what do i know?

Honestly, it just seems too aggressive to be a punishment. I don't see the NFL shaking things up that much the week of the draft. If a draft punishment is the plan, I'd guess it's a 2025 pick.

Unless Atlanta was given a heads up quite some time ago that they'd probably lose their 1st rounder this year, I think it would be a bit dubious to tell them days before the draft they forfeit their 1st.  When the Dolphins forfeited their pick last year, they were notified 8 months before the draft.  While I understand there're consequences to tampering, I just don't think it would be a fair punishment handed out in the day(s) leading up to the actual draft.

If we were a few picks further back, trading up wouldn't bother me. But there's enough premium talent that I'm not convinced moving up from 9 gains is all that much

I concur. I think the Bears will stay put. I am beginning to be talked into Byron Murphy. Mainly because, I hate an irrationale fear of the Jets jumping the Bears to grab Rome Odunze.

For the first time in a long time, I'm going to tune in with full interest to this draft's first day and enjoy myself immensely.  Might even break out some nachos and beer.

If the Bears don't leave the draft with a new WR, how comfortable are you with the WR depth chart heading into next season?

DJ Moore

Keenan Allen

Tyler Scott

Velus Jones

Dante Pettis

Nsimba Webster

Moore has been pretty healthy throughout his career but Allen has missed 11 games the last 2 seasons so while that combo is pretty freaking great, it drops off quite a bit.  Do you go after one of the remaining Free Agents (OBJ and Tyler Boyd being 2 options)?

Posted

Boyd would be a fine 3rd option if they don’t draft a WR, but agreed Tyler Scott and Velus Jones as WR3 and WR4 behind an oft-injured Keenan Allen is scary. They do have two strong pass-catching TEs, at least.

I think, especially with two receiving tight ends and a new receiving-forward RB, it's adequate depth.  I don't want Poles to completely skip WR in the draft, but I don't think I'll be too worried if he does.

I think it's more likely they find a good WR in the 3rd, then they find a good EDGE. I've almost talked myself into trading back from 9 to get one of Verse/Latu/Turner unless Nabers/Alt are there. I could pass on Odunze and move to the mid teens if it netted them a 2nd. If it's a mid to late 3rd or a 2025 2nd, then I'm just grabbing Odunze.

We need another WR. If you don’t want to use #9 on one then you need to grab someone later. This is supposed to be a very deep draft at WR.

would be good to add another WR option, but receiving options 3/4/5 are probably Kmet/Swift/Everett right now which isn't awful, especially combined with the best 1/2 since Marshall/Jeffery

It would be fine for next season, bad for Caleb’s second season.

Well I'm bored and it's 2 days from the draft, so I suppose this is kind of what I'd like to see, assuming there's no major surprise picks before #9.

#1) Caleb Williams- It's about as certain as possible without it officially being announced

#9) Is traded to the Colts for #15 and #46. Colts get a WR(Odunze) to help Anthony Richardson out.

#15) Laiatu Latu- He may not have Turner's ceiling, but he's the most NFL ready impact edge rusher

#46) Xavier Worthy- If Legette or McConkey fall, I'd snag them, but Worthy gives the Bears a blazing deep ball threat

#75) Kamren Kinchens- He's sliding because of his combine performance and his injury, but if he's there, I'm all over it. Sedrick Van Pran if not.

#122) Beau Limmer- He wont be able to step into the job day 1, but as he packs on weight he should be a solid NFL center.

I feel like Poles can't really go wrong if he stays put. He'll know he will need to be making impact picks given the shortage of picks. While I'm sold on getting a WR, I wouldn't hate it if he got Alt, Verse, Turner, Latu or Bowers. I don't think Allen is only here for one year. I think they work an extension for a total of 3 years here, where Poles can work the cap space to fill the remainder of holes with players that can help this team right now.
