I'm not even really sure what connotation 'Hollywood' is supposed to carry. Is it that they're more interested in attention and optics than football? Is it some weird insinuation about sexuality?

It’s a pretty common attempted criticism for anybody from California who is comfortable with attention.

I think it's better that your rookie QB comes into camp with a little swagger. If they take advantage of him, he'll get humbled a little bit, but you still want him to keep that confidence level. I don't care how good you can throw the ball or avoid a pass rush, you also need confidence to make plays. Fields clearly didn't have confidence to stick that ball in tight places or to make the throw to the right place.

And it's nice that he'll be competing against a potential top 5 DB unit throughout camp.

I also hope he keeps painting his nails for those homophobes out there.

I find it funny that the vast majority of the internet fans who were just convinced Fields was the QB for 2024, have decided to continue to tear down Caleb Williams and instead moved onto JJ McCarthy is the guy.

They're unwilling to be totally wrong, so they're grasping at the hope that at least they might be right that Williams won't be the guy, and it would somehow hurt those who have been advocating for drafting him. They are projecting their cult-like personal investment in Fields onto people who have just been pointing out that Williams is the logical choice.

As if Williams himself is a proxy for the people who have been disagreeing with them for months.

These are folks for whom rationality has long since left the building.

So glad I left Twitter and this is my only outlet for internet sports fandom.

There are Bears Facebook groups/pages that get pushed to me that are absolutely full of the dumbest hot takes.

It's the perfect time to snooze all of those pages for the next 30 days and block those that you aren't actively following, but show up in your feed anyway. The draft is still 30 days away and we know who the Bears are drafting first.

Yes same here. Yesterday something like Windy City Bears was pushing that Poles was going to actually draft McCarthy at 1.

This may or may not be the latest thing that dipshit did

from what i saw, that was just the beginning. apparently he claimed he had inside info on medical records because he shared doctors with the bears organization, which possible led to somebody getting fired. i don't know exactly how  it played out, since i can't see his tweets

JJ McCarthy, now there's a haircut you can set your watch to!

Go JJ, shoot up the board, pushing the number of QB's taken in the top 8 to 4.  Throw in Harrison and/or Alt/Fashanu/Latham leaving one of Nabers or Odunze at 9 for the Bears.  I believe if Nabers or Odunze is there Poles will keep the pick otherwise, he'll trade down and go DL, WR.

JJ McCarthy might be this year's Will Levis where everyone says he is going near the top of round one leading up to the draft but then isn't picked until later.

I figured that the fact that the Bears are finally giving up a home game for an international game plus the fact that the Bears agreed to play in the HOF game against Houston next season meant that they were going to be able to squirm out of Hard Knocks again.

Cool video of the Bears discussing who to draft with the pick they used on Hester

Hester was of course selected with the Bears at 57 and become a HOF kick returner and added value on offense for a few years and a little bit defensively early in his career but not much.

The Bears were clearly looking for a DB there as the other players discussed were DBs: Richard Marshall, picked with the very next pick by Carolina and Ashton Youboty, picked 70th by Buffalo.  Marshall ended up having a 9 year career as a starting CB with solid stats but no Pro Bowls.  Wouldn't have been a bad pick at all.   Youboty played for 6 years but as a reserve mostly, no where near as much impact as Hester or Marshall.

I love how they say his floor is pr/kr, maybe they can get more from him and it turns out his floor is the greatest pr/kr to ever play

good enough i guess
