I’m not just doom-bonering here, but the Saints are on the verge of cratering.  Had they not rallied to make it a game against Detroit last week, Allen might have been fired on Monday.  I expect the boos to be very loud today.  They can’t stop the run and are terrible against mobile QBs.

Add to this that the Saints will likely be without Taysom Hill, most of their WRs and 1/3 of their defense today, and it could get ugly fast.

Carolina down double digits before halftime.

Somehow other fan bases' refusal to accept that my team is a hopeless mess that absolutely will not win a game is almost as annoying as the situation itself.

Woof, Carolina is godawful.  Bryce Young is 1/8 with an INT against a Saints D that’s been gashed lately and is banged up.

The Jets have figured out CJ Stroud and it isn't pretty

He doesn't have his favorite receiver, Dell, and that defense is nasty... bad combination for a young QB

EDIT: Wrong thread.

On the general NFL, it seems like one of the odd years where the is just no dominant team. SF and BAL seem the closest but both have laid some eggs already this season.

Colts have blocked 2 punts already and completely destroyed the punter each time

In San Diego one day, I got a bit toasty on some Bloody Mary's (okay, maybe more than just "some") and I hooted and hollered to get everyone's attention on a play happening on one of the many tv's showing every game, and it was pointed out to me that it was a replay. Everyone had fun with that one the rest of the day. Every time that play came up on replay again on one of the many tv's, my close friends would mock me once again. It was rather hilarious, and hell, I didn't care, I was feeling no pain.

I do miss going to Sunday football games with those yahoos.

Didn't get to see a lot of football this weekend, but horsefeathers off, Patrick Mahomes. Dude was offside. "Fiery competitor" did not describe the fit he threw. Any other sport, he gets ejected or fined or something for that tirade toward the official.

Then on the other side, and even worse, Von Miller gets arrested for assaulting a pregnant woman, and everyone is just cool with him continuing to play? Because it's a big game?

Get your horsefeathers together, NFL.

Going to need someone to explain to me why the Jags went for 2 yesterday. They’re down 10 and they get a TD with 1:33 left. They go for 2 and don’t get it so they’re down 4. I get it if you’re down 14 because if you don’t get it, you still need a TD. But by not getting it here, the Jags now need a TD instead of a FG which I would think would change the math quite a bit.

I noticed that too and wasn't immediately sure.  My best guess is they were out of timeouts, so the only way they're getting the ball back again is with an onside recovery.  That means that their 2nd drive will have such good field position and enough time remaining that they're likely able to get in position to score a TD or at least have a hail mary that's closer to a 30-40 yard pass.  That downside was worth the upside of being able to win with a FG maybe?

From what I've read on the subject, analytics guys feel like coaches dramatically undervalue trying to win the game in regulation. If Jacksonville had gotten the 2, they could've won the game in regulation much more easily. So while it's obviously not the same as the 'down 14, score a TD then go for 2' situation you reference, it's a spiritual sibling.

So if you haven't noticed,  the Dallas kicker is pretty much in god mode territory. He has yet to miss a kick this year and made both a 59 and 60 yard field goal last night.

That backstory is wild too.  College soccer, no college football, to the USFL, to the Cowboys is a pretty crazy path.

Pretty remarkable. Will be interesting to see how he fairs with a game in Buffalo in December weather and a game in WDC in January.

While it wasn't the same situation given the amount of time in both games, the Packers did this in week 2 against the Saints.  They were down 17-3 in the 4th with 7 min left. They scored and went for 2 (converting).  Made the score 17-11.  They got the ball back after a defensive stop (easier than recovering an onside kick) and scored again to make it 18-17. And that ended up being the final score.
