Curious how many QBs currently in playoff position were drafted top 10 by their current team. I don’t have Sunday ticket anymore and don’t follow many others much, but it feels like 90% of teams in good qb situation took like the 4th guy off the board.

Trevor Lawrence seems like the obvious exception, and he went to a situation where they loaded up his skill players, rather than trading up.
Herbert was top ten, right? And he’s a guy whose team regularly lets him down.

Quick run through of teams in the hunt and their QBs

1st rounders: Tua (2nd qb, #5 ovr), Allen (3rd, pick 7), Lamar (4th, pick 32), Pickett (1st qb, pick 20), Watson (3rd qb, pick 12), Mahomes (2nd QB, pick 10), Lawrence (#1), Stroud (#2, 2nd qb), Goff (#1, acquired via trade), Love (4th qb, pick 26) and Stafford (#1)

Others: Minshew (though Colts picked Richardson 4th, 3rd qb taken), Russ (3rd rounder, multiple 1sts traded to acquire), Hurts (2nd rounder, 5th! qb taken), Dak (4th rd), Dobbs/Cousins (low pick/big FA signing of previous 4th rd pick), Purdy (7th), and Geno Smith (2nd rd, 2nd QB - what a terrible overall draft 2013 was, yikes)

How quick we are to forget Desmond Ridder.  And quickly is how I would like to forget him.

Of the 14 teams currently in a playoff spot, the Jags, Chiefs and Dolphins picked their own QB in the top 10.  The Lions traded their former 1OA for someone else's former 10A.

The Colts' first-round starter got hurt and now they have a random veteran backup that has started most of their games.

The Steelers, Ravens and Packers picked their own QB later in the first round.

The Cowboys, Falcons, Eagles and 49ers drafted their own QB later.

The Browns, and Vikings went outside the organization.

What does it refer to?

I'm pretty sure it refers to first player of the first round (or 1-1). But I haven't a clue why it would be referred to as 10A. I hadn't ever seen that up until recently, but now I see it regularly.

First overall pick.  Took me a minute too.  I was reading it as Ten A.

lol - I even typed it as 10 A

first pick seems like a perfectly descriptive way to talk about the first pick. But I guess that's not what the cool kids say. It's like Mike, Wil and Sam when someone is talking about a linebacker.

"first pick" is ambiguous because people also use it to refer to their team's first pick of the draft.

10A is not at all ambiguous.

It is if you type "ten" A, which is what you did.

It isn't.  You may find it unclear, but it isn't ambiguous.

What's wrong with 1:1?
