I really don't even understand what the White Sox are doing right now.  They had this core that they tanked several years for.  That core didn't work out (for reasons I still don't fully understand), so they are again gutting the team and tanking, but their farm system is still only like middle of the road.  They are likely gonna suck again for the next 3 years.  What a disaster franchise but not a surprise given who owns it.

I think it's a couple things:

- Reinsdorf was a cheapass and didn't push in additional $ when they were briefly pretty good.  Kind of like that Pirates run in like 2012-2015

- Rick Hahn and their prior FO wasn't very good.  I know Kyle and some other people disagree, but tanking isn't easy.  The Sox FO clearly horsefeathered it up and the Phillies were on their way to horsefeathering it up before Dave Dombrowski came in and saved the day

- Several teams were tanking at once, which is part of what made it difficult.  When Theo did it it was just the Cubs and Astros doing it, when the Sox were doing it the Phillies and the Orioles and the Reds and several teams were if not actively tanking at least passively tanking by refusing to add anything until they had a core built up.

I would summarize the current White Sox situation as basically being the Pirates, but with bottom of the barrel player development and at least some ownership pressure to not completely crater(or at least, more ownership pressure than Pittsburgh has had).  They've also been at least a little unlucky with e.g. position player injuries, but yeah things are pretty dire.

18 games, 38 runs scored. This has to be more than just bad and onto historically awful. The 3rd lowest scoring team in baseball, the Twins, have scored 58 runs in those same 18 games. Meanwhile the Braves have put up 108 runs in  17 games.

4 runs today! It's an offensive explosion! I mean sure, it took them 17 innings to score 4 runs, but let's not get bogged down by the details.

And they want a new stadium (lol)

There is a really nice baseball/football stadium in Oakland no one will be using.

Really?  Maybe the A's should have moved there instead of moving to Sacramento/Vegas

I can't read the story, but the headline is enough:

This is the same city that wouldn't give the Cubs anything for their renovation project, right?

They have 1 hit and are losing 7-0, on their way to their 16th loss

Their 7th time being shutout in 19 games. They've now scored 38 runs in 19 games.

Not to nitpick, but they've scored 38 runs in 12 games.  They didn't score in the other 7.
