Cubs Video
Hello again, Cubs fans! Twice a year, we sit down and find the most popular posts and blogs on North Side Baseball, and their creators receive prizes for their contributions to this community. The 2026 season gave us plenty to talk about, from Gold Glove-caliber defense to the usual trade deadline debates, and our community was there for every pitch. We look at the most popular posts and most popular blogs created by our amazing community contributors.
Most Popular Post
This year’s most popular post wasn’t a hot take or a trade proposal. During the opening weekend series against the Nationals, @NorthsideAvenger shared that his father, the man who made him a Cubs fan, had passed away. As is the case with so many of us, we learned to love the game through our older family members. He wrote about watching games together, opening packs of baseball cards (his dad loved pulling Andre Dawson; he loved pulling Ryne Sandberg), and how his father stayed calm through the entire 2016 World Series while the rest of us were a wreck. His post was a reminder of why so many of us love this team, and the community responded with an outpouring of support. NorthsideAvenger, thank you for sharing your dad with us. We’re sending you a Wrigley Field frame, and we hope it finds a good spot next to some of those memories.
NorthsideAvenger, please private message me (click on my name at top of post), and let me know your address so I can ship your prize!
Most Popular Post Runner-Up
Every once in a while, the baseball world hands us a gift, and @CaliforniaRaisin was quick to unwrap it. During the All-Star break, CaliforniaRaisin brought a screenshot of Bruce Levine’s apparently accidental tweet, which took a shot at the front office and memorably referred to them as “twinkle dee and twinkle dum,” to the 2nd half placeholder thread. The tweet stayed up for over half an hour, and the thread had a field day. Congratulations, CaliforniaRaisin, you win... well, nothing. Sorry about that.
Most Prolific Poster
We like to tip our hat to the poster who earned the most reputation points over the season, and this time around that poster was @Tangled Up in Plaid! Thanks for being such an integral part of the North Side Baseball community, Tangled Up in Plaid!
Most Popular Blog Entry
Every user of North Side Baseball can create their own blog that will be read by thousands of fellow Cubs fans. @ryanrc came into 2026 with a pretty strong track record: his MOJO system projected the 2025 Cubs at 92.5 wins, and they won 92. In Predicting the Cubs Wins for 2026: Revisiting My MOJO System, ryanrc adjusted PECOTA’s projections using six team-level factors (momentum, organization, job roles, offering diversity, injury risk, and slugging), pegged the Cubs for 94 wins, and called for two big midseason bullpen additions to make a real October run. It’s a fun, thorough read, and it was our most popular blog entry of the season!
Ryanrc, private message me with your address so we can ship you your Cubs banner!
That’s all for the 2026 season, folks. Give a round of applause to everyone mentioned in this piece, and here’s to an exciting offseason and a big 2027 on the North Side!
