At this point, I'm really hoping one of Levis and Richardson make it to 9. With Carter bombing his pro day, there's nobody at that point in the draft that has clear separation from the guys at 15 to me. I'd love to trade down again and pick up another second rounder.

A "spare" second rounder to pick one of the top tight ends would be nifty. Get Darnell Washington and set him at the end of the line for the next ten years.

A friend of mine just saw Fields, Claypool, Moore and Mooney at the Bulls game together. Fields doing some relationship building with his WRs, love it

Edit: nevermind it’s on Twitter. I don’t watch the bulls anymore lol

Fun fact. When a thread title is changed, it apparently takes your subscription to the thread off. I was thinking there were no posts in here all day and never went in to check.

Borom, day 3 rookie, and random street FA camp battle for RT.

so not much different than last year?

Also I know there's still a lot of offseason and more chances for players to be cut, etc but is there a chance the Bears don't actually spend to the cash floor and pay the extra money out?

Looks like we have our backup QB. I like

I know nothing about this guy, what's to like?

He's not necessarily a particularly good QB but he has a good rapport with Moore and he's a really good practice guy from what I've read. Scout team legend. Pretty sure Siemien is still on the roster so he'd be the 3rd QB but I'd feel better about him coming in an emergency situation than most QB3s.

In a different year I'd suggest that its possibly a waste to pay 3 vet QBs but the Bears have money to burn so I don't mind it.

Still hoping for Eluemunor (RT) or Seumalo for LG,

LT Jones

LG Seumalo or Jenkins

C Whitehair

RG Davis

RT Jenkins or Eluemunor

Would be a big improvement and give us more flexibility with 9. Seems likely Jenkins will have to move to RT or LG and push Whitehair to C or cut.

Feels more like a possibility each day.

But my current theory is they'll throw the Kittle extension at Kmet which had a massive frontloaded signing bonus and that will more or less carry them across the finish line (along with a few small signings)

Paying Cole Kmet along the lines of Kittle would be the least value focused move Poles could dream of.

He's not talking about the amount, just the structure.

Nah, amount will be close too. TEs in the Kmet value range are at like $14m right now. That's about where I have his ext number. Kittle was 5/75. But it was 2020 on a 198m cap. So equivalent value today would be 5/85.

So if I started Kmet with a 14m baseline. Discount it a bit for having heavy up front cashflows. 5/65. About a 20% real discount from Kittle. Frontload between $16-20 cash as signing bonus.

Something like that basically replaces the last big signing I figured they'd need to help reach minimum.

With lack of movement by Poles on OL free agents, I have to think, assuming both are available, we're looking at Paris Johnson or Peter Skoronski at #9. Given what I've read, its 80% Johnson, 20% Skoronski maybe, someone here who knows OL play can suggest who'd be a better fit. I was really hoping for JSN at #9, load up on the offensive weapons, but it appears the Bears are pretty much pigeon-holed into OL at #9. Of course, being constrained to the OL means the Bears will be unable to address the DL on day 1, DL/Edge was thought to be the strength of this draft and here we have Poles unable to tap into this resource.

Seems obvious at this point Poles wants to build his OL and DL through the draft. Needs to hit on those picks now. Also seems likely with that draft strategy he trades back from #9 to acquire more picks.

IDK why, but I'm a big PJ Walker fan. LOL. I watched him be a start in the XFL the first time around and thought he should be given a legit shot. He probably shouldn't actually be given a legit shot now, but he's a fun guy to watch and actually has been moderately successful when he has played. 4-3 as a starter, and 2 of those losses are a game he left injured in the 1st half and another was the infamous DJ Moore helmet removal penalty that led to a missed GW PAT and an OT loss. Walker threw for 300+ in the latter game (partly due to a Hail Mary to Moore).

But yeah, he's a good guy to have to mimic the mobile QBs for the scout team O. And while I agree w/ Goony that I hate trying to mimic the skillset of the starter with a backup, Walker isn't much of a runner at all. Only 6 rush attempts in 5 starts last year. So, it's not like you're going to be running QB power with him. Like any backup, I hope he never sees the field other than blowout wins. But if he does play in the short term, he can win you a game against a bad team. That's pretty much all you can ask for.

We said this last offseason at the same point, then be went DB-DB-KR early in the draft.

The way he has absolutely torched the lines on both sides of the ball is concerning

My understanding is that Skoronski is polished but his arm length makes it extremely likely he will move to guard, or at least staying at tackle severely lowers his ceiling.

Pjj needs more development but his measureables are ideal for tackle.

I would be very happy with either but I'm not getting my hopes up

I don't see Skoronski as a fit. Short arms, and I think he's a guard, which seemingly is covered by Davis, Jenkins, Whitehair, and Carter all being on the roster still. Jenkins could move back to OT, but he doesn't have ideal length either.

I hope they add someone. Even if it's just a placeholder on a 1-year deal. Cam Fleming seems like the safest bet out there. But Taylor Lewan and Donovan Smith are interesting options in that they were once really good LTs until injuries and age set in (Smith isn't quite 30 yet but has a lot a mileage). Maybe you can get a Jason Peters season out of 1 of them, which is possible since they are 10 years younger. LOL.

But those type of moves wouldn't force you into OT at 9. And I personally, think I'd rather have one of the 2nd round guys (Jaelyn Duncan, Matthew Bergeron, Wanya Morris-3rd/4th) than Johnson at 9. Trade back, and I feel more comfortable with one of the 1st tier guys. Anton Harrison is my guy, OT2 for me with Paris only ahead because of star upside and Darnell Wright is my OT3, who showed at the combine he's athletic enough for this scheme and college showed an amazing anchor against top tier talent.
