The turdiest turds who ever turded continue their monstrous collapse.

Or maybe something good will happen. Technically, that's possible too. Technically.

The best part of a playoff season is the clinching moment when you know you’re safe. It’s just a little exhale before the playoffs start.

Please win so we don’t clinch by having the Brewers win and pass us for the division lead.

Somehow 65% to win the division. Win today and tomorrow and the lead is at least a full game heading into the weekend. Who knows maybe the Cardinals win today too.

When you have to reassure people that the team is fine something, like, 58 times over the course of the season, maybe there are some actual problems there.

With the way this season is ending it's going to be real hard to get excited for next year.

Hell, I can't wait for next year; I'm tired of this broken down mess of a season, and I'm thinking it's gonna get a bug up the FO's butt to go nuts in this offseason. No screwing around with cutesy project players or wack-ass platoons.

they'll drop their wad on bryce and he'll somehow lose his arms in a grain auger

That was more a rallying cry than anything else. I'm a bit past the whole 'we got this' thing at this point, although I think a lot of that is just reduced enthusiasm coming from the Russell story and the team's response.

Then again, if people are looking for reassurance something, like, 58 times over the course of a 157 game stretch where the team had the best record in the National League...maybe that's on them too.

Haha what if the Cubs finished tied with the Brewers? Well they would lose their off day to play them on Monday at Wrigley. If they lose that they’d have to turn around and play the Wild Card game the next day. If they win that they get their second day off in 7 weeks before the NLDS.

Me too, this under-performance, bad luck, injury bs seems cyclic to me, it's going to be fun watching the Cubs blow away the NL Central while the Brewers deal with bad luck, injuries, under-performing players and elevated expectations.

Honestly? I feel like they’ve earned it at this point.

I can’t see a single scenario where I spend one minute watching this game

LOL, yeah. I'm going to avoid watching this game like the plague.

I will check the score, though.

The only comfort I had last night was that if the Cubs are tied with MIL, they play the tiebreaker in Chicago and the Cubs can deploy their only weapon against the Brewers, Quintana. No guarantee the offense would score a single run, but we got that going for us, which is nice.

just imagine if MLB actually scheduled the Nationals makeup game for the Monday after the season.

Watched the Skynyrd doc on Showtime a week ago and I see this Cubs team like the plane that went down in the woods. The Cubs are sputtering and leaking oil just trying to get to that playoff runway but as the season comes to an end its becoming clear that this plane isnt gonna make and we are in the final 10 minutes phase where everyone is coming to terms with what once looked like an easy landing is going to end up being a rough crash in the woods.

Joe should be thriving in this environment.
