Haven't done the "OH horsefeathers... OH horsefeathers... OH horsefeathers!" thing in a while so that was fun

That was awesome, as soon as he hit it I started yelling like a crazy person but also having the "oh he crushed that but we'll see....." thought process.

Nice to get that one, I was highly agitated beforehand.

And somewhere under Wrigley, Jake Arrieta puts his ear to the wall, and sadly listens to the sounds of a party he can no longer attend.

ah yes 96 up in the zone from a lefty, or as I call it, Heyward catnip

this reminded me...not that the location and lefty thing don't still make this very improbable, but not sure if you saw this the other night because it might've been lost at the bottom of the page.

I’m starting to think that Smoltz is saying obviously wrong things on a dare. “Heyward has been fine on fastballs but can’t hit offspeed stuff” sure is an interesting interpretation of reality

that's been the case this year. i know i read it recently. maybe BN or maybe Duke's post.

i dozed off somewhere around the 7th or 8th inning...woke up to an excited text from my cousin who was at the game.

took me a while to make sure it wasn't some weird dream

The only reason I had any hope in that at bat was the fact that the guy pitching had absolutely ridiculously good splits against right-handed hitters and lefties were hitting .288 against him so far this year. Apparently reverse splits are a real thing, at least for tonight anyway.

I did see it, but I did not want to entertain anything but righteous anger at Smoltz, plus I am very distrustful of pitch-specific metrics(especially for hitters) and most importantly I am too proud.

I’m on vacation. In a cabin up in a mountain. Spotty phone service. I was driving up the mountain during the game. Lost all internet access when Heyward came up to bat. Randomly got an mlb app notification an hour later that he hit a walk-off grand slam.

Uhhhhh....I went to bed after Morrow gave up the homer. Whoops.

same...woke up in the middle of the night and saw the score and headline on my phone. Just woke up and was certain it was a dream.

I forgot about this, but 10 years ago Aramis Ramirez hit a grand slam against the Phillies to turn a 2 run deficit into a 2 run victory. The only difference is that his grand slam was in the bottom of the 8th instead of a walk off. Still some similarities.

Sorry for the crappy fan video I couldnt find an MLB.com highlight for it.
