Friendly reminder that Dusty Baker IBB'd Jason Heyward after Scherzer fell behind 2-0.

Eh, it's probably the right move there, as Heyward has had success there, and what happened after was basicaaly none of Scherzers fault.

I dont think walking Heyward is ever the right move at this moment in time, but i suppose it looks better than if Heyward had gotten a meatball and managed to hustle out an infield hit out of it. And yeah, none of what happened after that was Scherzer's or Dusty's fault.

Yeah, definitely not a terrible move. I just think it's funny that Heyward was IBB'd with 2 outs and a non-pitcher on deck (though Javy might as well be against Scherzer).

Highlights, NLDS-CLINCHING HIGHLIGHTS HERE, highlights.

Imagine if Len didn't help during the playoffs and Coomer did play by play for that crazy 5th.

It actually would have been radio gold.

I gotta be honest...most of the time on big wins, I enjoy going back for the highlights on it. I'm not really sure I'm gonna enjoy the highlights of this game for long. Or even the series. Super happy that we won of course, but it was ugly enough that I don't feel a great need to rewatch.

horsefeathers, I hate rewatching almost everything about Game 7 of the WS minus the final out; it almost all just takes me back to being crazy stressed out. All of the good stuff was THIS close to being cancelled out until then. Even taking the lead in extras, that horsefeathers got hairy again real fast...

This is exactly what the consensus was at our little watch party last night. About the 8th inning somebody said they weren't going to go back and watch this game ever no matter the outcome.

Last night's game makes me want to watch the 2016 World Series video again.

Hardly any sleep but this is how I drove to work this morning:

What's the deal with Nats fans? Are these people that had another team and switched? We're they old Senators fans that were waiting for another DC team? Old expos fans? Did they have no team for most of their life and then picked up baseball a decade ago as adults? Are they so young that the Nats were impressed upon them as a youth?

For me my fanhoods was established very early on and were based on bonds with family members and it's very hard for me to understand just picking a team and getting to "diehard" status.

You had a lot of Mid-Atlantic folks who halfheartedly rooted for NY or PA teams, or the Orioles, so there was a lot of excitement when DC got a team again. You've got a lot of local DC/VA/MD people that wanted a team and jumped on right away. I mean, they've been around 12 years now, so I'm not gonna begrudge people for being passionate about them like the team just appeared out of nowhere.

Yeah I actually lived near Baltimore for a few years as a kid and it was like that with the Redskins. The Colts had been gone for less than a decade and when the Redskins won the Super Bowl in 91 I seem to remember people rooting for them but I don't remember too many people being overly passionate. Obviously a majority of those people are now Ravens fans

I'm as invested in the Cubs as the next guy due to my family ties, but I've lived in Kansas City for 6 baseball seasons now. I love MLB, so I go to a lot of Royals games. It's not hard to get invested in a team as an adult, especially when familiar faces stick around for many years.

The Royals winning the pennant and then the next year the World Series was awesome, but it's nothing like how it felt when the Cubs won.

It also helps when you have good friends who are lifelong fans of the team. I was ecstatic for them when the Royals won and they were for me when the Cubs won. I've even gone to Royals and Cubs playoff games with the same friends to experience it together.

It just hit me how lucky we are that Dusty had 2 of their 3 worst hitters bating 1-2. Entirely because "fast" and "veteran". I can't imagine Wade finishes off that 9th facing Murphy-Rendon-Harper or something similar, instead of Turner-Werth-Harper.

They even had Harper 2 and Rendon 3 for the first three games of the series and switched to this lineup for Games 4 and 5 because they were more productive (against garbage teams).

Nah, any adult that actually cares about this team is weird as horsefeathers.

I first came to NYC at age 18 and have been here for more than half my life. I cannot fathom the concept of becoming an actually passionate fan of a team as an adult. Root root root for the home team all you want, but to care? That's mental.
