I don't trust those AFL exit velocity readings, they said Eloy put one at 119 but that 5 others from the same game were 110+. Even with a hot gun on statcast though, he has to strike the ball well to get that reading.

Did that fangraphs guy seriously say Schwarber was a 20 runner pre injury?

C'mon man.

Dave Cameron is so blindly obtuse when it comes to Schwarber.

I hadn't thought about it until you mentioned Cameron. But the whole premise behind him being an advocate for trading Schwarber was because Schwarber couldn't help this year. He went through his whole spiel about Schwarber being overrated. And then he ran some numbers and found that Schwarber was much more valuable, even after heavily discounting future value. But the Cubs should still trade him, anyway, because... reasons.

From his article:

What they don’t have is a World Championship in the last century. Kyle Schwarber can’t help them with that this year.

Oh, the irony.

Admittedly, it is kinda interesting to imagine how the series would look if we had given up Schwarber for Miller.

But horsefeathers that noise, Schwarber is gonna be the second batter in the Cubs' first world series game since 1945. Ahhhh I can't wait to watch the lovable lunk smash a baseball.

This lineup with Schwarber is just the right way to go about getting the national and likely international baseball spotlight on this franchise.

I don't think they needed any help at all in this regard.

Have they said he's batting 2nd? Didn't Schwarber make his MLB debut at Cleveland?

Everything that is being reported is "sources", and I think one report (Heyman?) mentioned him batting 2nd. However, the team has made no announcement that he'll be on the roster, much less what spot in the batting order he'll be in.

Rosters are due at 10:00 I believe.

Yes, Schwarber debuted vs Cleveland.

Also, the roster spot Schwarber would be taking got 1 plate appearance in the NLDS and 0 IP in the NLCS. The opportunity cost is very, very small.

This. All of this. If he wakes up Wednesday morning and can't walk, I feel good about Soler as DH and the bench options change, and the Cleveland lineup is not all Lefties like the dodgers.

Dave Cameron has hated Schwarber for a long time. He thinks his ceiling is a Mike Napoli type player, which both underestimates Schwarber offensively AND defensively

Jesus.

I hope you guys aren't blind to the fact that he's probably going to struggle, at least in the first few ABs against, you know, actual pitching.
