the only breakdown of the Farnsworth fight I recognize includes the phrase "racky-tacks him"

Stone got way too much credit for way too many things for way too long. "Racky-tacks" was fine and all, but just imagine what JD and Len could have done with the replay of something like that.

Anyone watching Game 7 right now? Contreras just doubled to make it 3-1.

Yeah, I'm watching it and the quick hook on Hendricks still pisses me off. The bad call from the ump on a clear strike 3 before Maddon pulls Hendricks also pisses me off...

We came so close to blowing this lead lol. I used to defend him, but I'm so glad Maddon is gone now.

I just read The Cubs Way by Verducci again. Such a freaking great book. So many amazing nuggets just in the Game 7 chapters alone. I always forget that Montero one-liner to Montgomery when the latter entered the game and asked what he had in mind: "I'll figure it out by the time I get back there."

Woody 20 K game on ESPN right now.

I've enjoyed watching these old games.

But holy crap is Chip Caray bad! I don't recall him being as awful as he truly was.

THERE’s a LASER TO CF! Yeah, he was awful. I had forgotten about HRs being “rally killers”.

Two others things he used to do that drove me crazy...

He overreacted to every bunt. “So and so will be called on to move the runner over. He lays down the bunt AND IT’S A BEAUTY!!!!” Every time someone bunted in fair territory he’d excitedly scream, “it’s a beauty.” May have been real hard back to the pitcher who is starting to turn a double play, but Chip would have already exclaimed how great it was.

He also would say “could” when it should have been “would.” Bases loaded, two outs, bottom of the ninth, tie game, and he’d say, “a base hit here could give the Cubs the win.” No, a base hit would give the Cubs the win. Bases loaded: “a walk could bring in a run.” Did that a lot.
