Not sure if this should be its own thread.

A group of friends and I are looking to make a weekendish trip to Wrigley this year. I'm the only member of the group that has been before. We don't really care about a particular series. Would like to do Thurs-Fri-Sat, but I know there aren't many Thursday home games that precede weekend home series (2 of which are the Cardinals, if memory serves). Considering all of that, does anyone think we need to use the presale? I chatted with someone on Cubs.com earlier today. They said that since we didn't care about specific games, we would be fine to wait until the normal sale and just call.

Having been to Wrigley before, and having sat in multiple areas, I don't really care where we sit. That being said, what's the best option for value AND cool seats for first timers? Sorry for all the questions. I've never done this before, and search wasn't very kind to me.

Upper deck box infield is a good view and a good way to make sure their first time isn't blocked by a pole. Either of the sections all the way down the line, (200-202 or 240-242) are a good way to ensure you don't get a pole, and you're fairly close to the field, but you are limiting your best view of the entire field. Still you can sometimes score a decent value on those tickets compared to infield sections.

edit: I totally forgot that the board moved to a new server or whatever. Gonna search the archive.

one of the best values and one of my favorite places to sit = front of upper deck (400) infield

The best value ticket in sports. For some reason the market has never figured out how awesome those seats are.

I have an annual trip with friends where we sit in the bleachers per tradition, but any other game I go to I try to sit in the 400s.

I could have sworn in reason years theyve disproportionately raised prices on those seats.

It is hilarious though that people who don't know better buy seats 20 rows up in the 200 level and spend the game with the overhang blocking off part of the OF all because they assume lower deck > upper deck

I buy almost all my tickets on StubHub, so I don't usually keep track of the Cubs' prices. I did go with my wife a couple years ago and we sat in the bleachers because the tickets were cheaper there, so it is probably a little closer to an accurate reflection these days, but for the most part you can usually get better deals in the 400s.

They have for those and bleachers. The new best value is the front of 200

that's actually where our seats are. i still miss the upper deck IF though.

I know generally speaking batting order doesn't overly matter... but if we are going to assume Schwarber/Bryant/Rizzo top 3 most of the time vs RHP do you guys think the pitcher batting 8th will get any thought to get that "extra leadoff guy" in front of those 3? We completely went away from it since 2016 or even 15, I forget, so maybe we found that there's no benefit or even a deterrent to doing it. Just something I've kinda been think about. Schwarber/Bryant/Rizzo/Willy/Zobrist/Russell/Heyward/P/Happ (or flip Russell and Happ) vs RHP is something that conceptually makes some sense to me.

I'd rather switch Happ and Zo but whatever.

Idk why I had no recollection of this, but I guess if Schwarber is the leadoff plan again I’d guess we will see it again.

It's fun to start in 2011 and then go year by year.

I can't wait until the Cubs have a better record than the dirty birds over the last decade.

eta: it is nice to see the Cubs with a winning record over the last 10 years. Is there any other time in our recent history we could say that? I mean apart from the next ten years.

i was reading this random baseball book the other night and this error was so bad it makes me question accuracy of information contained in every book ever.

I guess Dusty is partially absolved. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a 9 year old pitching in an MLB playoff game should get some of the blame. I hope he wasn't forced to throw any breaking balls.

Well, to be fair, this hasn't happened yet in our off-shoot of the time paradox. Dusty Baker Jr. creates a time machine in 2035 and goes back in time to take Mark Prior farther back in time to a place where his father cannot harm him, which, of course, prevents the Trump Presidency altogether. Keep reading for info on how Mark Bellhorn was involved in the Kennedy Assassination.

Edit: Crap, second joke in just never works as well.

Real life Rookie of the Year just wasn't as good as the movie.

Most professional pitchers these days are in excellent physical shape and do not, in fact, have big butts.

it's called Emerald Baseball. got it as a gift like six years ago and it's been sitting on my shelf since. since i was confined to my couch all weekend and didn't have anything else to read i finally powered through it. it was a quick, mostly forgettable read, some interesting/amusing anecdotes. but that definitely was not the only error in the book.

Surprisingly, very close twice in my lifetime. '84-'93 they were 805-808 and '00-'09 they were 807-811.

I found one from '67-'76 where they went 808-803.
