Willy is the man, he’s definitely going to kicked out of a game Joe West is umping. I think the mound visit limit is a really dumb idea.

Did Maddux really telegraph the high inside fastball like that, though?

horsefeathers, I guess he may have. Sorry I had never hear this before today.

i didn't know it was possible not to have heard this story at some point. feels like it's brought up all the time.

Haven't I proven how oblivious I can be yet?

Besides is that talked about among Chicago media or just in general?

i feel like it's mentioned on baseball broadcasts somewhat frequently

it's one of my dad's favorite pieces of baseball trivia, so i've heard about it plenty because of him. but it always seems like new information to people when he tells them, so i'm not surprised it's not super common knowledge.

The mound visit rule may not work, but the number of visits was ridiculous during the last postseason

They may have been but overall they don’t seem to be a problem nor will it be a huge time saver. We’re talking 5-10 min a game maybe? Plus it’s the postseason/WS I’m willing to let it slide that guys want to be extra sure to be on the same page, calmed down, etc.

"Ugh I wish this exciting playoff game was shorter!"

Well that entirely misses the point

I still don’t really get what the entire point is other than to make a game that’s inherently slow and standing aroundish slight less slow and standing aroundish but the final product with these changes still ends up being a slow and standing aroundish game.

Mound visits are the opposite of exciting. Multiple mound visits in the same inning is really really really the opposite of exciting.
