What am I supposed to do the next few months? I want to get next year started right now.

Watch the World Series. It's baseball. It's still the greatest sport.

Pretty obvious why you're all on this forum replying to me as well. Your insults are about as lame as this 2002-style forum.

Pretty obvious reason being because it's a Wednesday night and were all commiserating about a lost season?

I sure know that if my team just clinched a World Series berth I wouldn't be on a "facking" Mets forum.

Regardless I love the trolls, keep it coming.

Gross. I would like to see Murphy fail, so perhaps I'll watch. I don't know, though. It seems akin to sticking around prom to watch your date make out with another guy.

Yeah, you're right. I'll probably just spend my time jerking off the next few weeks.

[expletive] that noise.

Yeah, no way I'll be able to watch the World Series this year. Maybe I'll see what exercise is like or something.

I'll only watch if the Royals do this to Daniel Murphy:

Were any of the Gary Carter brain tumor comments even puns?

No. That made me laugh harder than the post he worked on for ten minutes and hit send at the third out.

Ugh. The way we went out sucked. It's probably better for my sanity that it wasn't some kind of stupid loss in a Game 7 or something. But, after being so high a week ago, the slow, inevitable burn just... well, it was the first time I've felt that way all year. The team let me down in some of those early Cards series. But, since then, it's been nothing but smiles.

well that kinda sucked.

Even more so that a turd like Daniel Murphy picked October 2015 to realize his potential as a power hitter.

Promise me that you will feel better after removing Daniel Murphy's dong from your collective asses.

That would be quite the turn from Murphy considering his statements before the season.

I know it's been said by a few already.....This series sucked. It hurts now, but this has been the most fun I've had in a baseball season. If we were told before the season that we'd win a WC game on the road and beat the Cards in the NLDS before losing in the NLCS, I know I'd have been OK with that. And I figure most(if not all) would have been. So many great moments, so many great kids developing into stars. This offseason is going to be fun as hell and we'll head into next year with a team that may be considered World Series favorites. Lets fast forward to February now. I can't imagine how exciting it'll be. Love you [expletive], hell of a season.

The worst part of baseball is that there's no bargaining, no forecasting ahead. You can't say 'This is going to happen in October. Would you be okay with that?' In the moment, looking ahead, after we clinched the NLDS against the Cardinals, we were all elated. We didn't know how the NLCS would shape up, but we wished for and hoped the best because we are an awesome team that could win, and frankly speaking, deserved to go all the way. And then the harsh, unpredictable nature of reality struck, and the dream fell flat on its face.

Overall, I'm happy with how this season turned out. And I'm bummed out that poor fortune screwed us yet again. Just keep in mind, we're not the only ones. Look at the A's last year. Look at the Royals in the World Series running into the MadBum buzzsaw. Look at the Astros this year, two innings away from advancing before KC's miraculous comeback. Look at the Rangers this year after being a game away from advancing their Cinderella season, and in 2011, were one strike away twice[/] from riding on top of the world. They have way more of a claim that a title was stolen from them than we do. Look at the 2007 Padres, who missed the playoffs because their Hall of Fame closer blew two games in a row. Look at the 2012 Reds, who collapsed just like the Rangers after winning their first two DS road games. Hell, look at the 2004 Yankees, whose opponents had to do something that literally had never happened in baseball before to crush their dreams.

Many teams go into the playoffs. All but one go home, heartbroken, some in crueler ways than others. Every fan of good teams has to learn to deal with heartbreak. But them being there means they have a chance, and that chance is better than sitting on your couch in October. Some of those teams don't even know if they'll have a good chance of being back again next year. This team is good. This team is going to have their shot. Ideally, many, many times, and that's way better than having a shot in the dark every five years.

Let's all look ahead, smile, and wait for winter to pass.
